Woohoo! I picked a good time to peak at the forums for the first time in months.

I noticed a post saying it's available as an eBook. Was that just for the Groombridge Log, or does that include all 3 books?

If you don't mind me asking, how profitable has it been so far?

Is there a way members could chip in and hire programmers on Elance.com, etc...or are we messing with legal stuff there?

Outstanding !!! I was away on a North Pole expedition, i only arrived back a week ago to find this wonderful link you posted, it is news such as this that inspires me to explore the unknown and void areas of our planet. I truly believe exploring the uiniverse is what we as humans were ultimately made to do.

Thanks you Brad, Fred and Paul for working on this awe inspiring title ! ! !

FM, yes i'm glad they all got involved, exactly what we needed from the very start, i truly wish i could observe these 3 sprightly individuals as they work together to do their magic on this series, all three of them sharing the same passion and inspiration for this awe inspiring title ! ! I can't wait for the next news article better yet a few screenies to temporary tame my hunger for a New Star Control Title which has been overdue for so long now ! ! !

More recent articles make it seem like Activision won't Fred and Paul contribute. At least not officially. That's why Stardock is currently pitching more of a reboot/alternate reality approach. What's really lame is they might not even be using any of the SCII races, ships, locations, etc. Sad

It would be cool if the ships in your fleet had more of an effect on conversation or random events. E.g., Fwiffo could jump in and talk when you first visit the Spathi homeworld. At the very least, having certain race's ships in your fleet, could open some new conversation options.

I don't think it's realistic at all. I mean, Detroit building reliable cruisers? Come on.
8  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Ring Runner: Flight of the Sages - Another Fun Top Down Space Game on: April 23, 2014, 05:28:06 am
I just played the demo for this on Steam, and thought a lot of users here might enjoy it: http://store.steampowered.com/app/258010

It's a top-down space shooter, with a long single-player campaign, with a unique story. Missions range from killing X mercenaries to traveling inside your brain to bind neutrons...or something like that...crazy stuff.

Tons of ship customization. You unlock a ton of hulls in 5 categories ranging from basic fighters, to "grapplers", which use melee moves, including grabbing and throwing other ships into stuff. Each hull also has a ton of equipment you can research, arrange, stack, and customize. There's a bunch of scenarios and multiplayer to keep you busy after the campaign. Of course, the campaign itself is pretty linear, and there's no SCII-style exploration, but net-melee fans will definitely enjoy the combat. Graphics and sound are the best I've seen for a game in this tiny genre; although the interface can be a little lack-luster.

Anyway, I enjoyed the demo, thinking about purchasing it (demo progress caries over), and figured I'd throw this out to the community.

Agree the black looks like it belongs. Make it the default?

I didn't realize ships had a secondary weapon, or you could type star names in, instead of blindly sliding the cursor around...

15  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: android mod snaffu on: December 15, 2013, 03:49:07 am
There's 2 setup menus. You get to the "Android" menu by tapping the bar at the top of the screen, right after you launch the game while it's loading. From there you can map phone buttons or "virtual" buttons to any keyboard button you want. Once you're in the game, there's a 2nd setup menu, from there you can go to controls. Select the option to adjust the controls, select ESC, then hit the phone or virtual button you want to use.

That should do it.

Kind of a pain to set-up, but worth it if you don't want to play on a bulky laptop. Definitely recommend playing with a Bluetooth controller though, or keyboard. You can use a PS3 or Wii-Mote controller too, as they use Bluetooth. The Wii-Mote requires an app that only works on Android 4.1 or lower older though, unless Google changes their code.
