16  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: iPhone version? on: October 13, 2008, 11:08:40 pm
Of course I'd like to see an iPhone version. You know anyone who can do it?

What about UQM Neo. Actually, never mind that. Neo means new, and you're just doing a fork. Better be UQM senesce.

New page.
19  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: UQM FIN on: October 07, 2008, 08:59:14 pm
Darn you!

I thought this thread was to announce UQM was finished, eg FIN, as in old movies and the like.

Not that I want this project to end, but I'd like UQM to be to a finished state so that the team can start on some new goals, like making Star Control 1 with SC2 ships.

If Dragons doesn't beat you all to it.
20  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: What's with all the Starcon3 Hate? on: September 22, 2008, 09:44:23 pm
I think that the main reason they cut some of the SC2 races was the fact that if they included them they would have had to enlarge the galaxy and also add more races to the Crux to even it out a bit and that was obviously too much work seeing as they barely did all the work for most of the races they did include.
*BZZZZZ* Wrong. They didn't include the SC2 races (or ignored the cannon for established one) because they wanted to write Fred Ford and Paul Reiche III out of the franchise. FF & PR3 owned the characters and setting, basically everything but the words "Star" and "Control" used in conjunction.
21  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / A star control 1 remake that may actually get finished on: September 07, 2008, 07:14:09 pm
For the RetroRemake contest the user Dragon has committed to remaking Star Control 1.

I couldn't be happier.

But now I feel like a stranger on the boards that I once checked daily.

That's probably why you feel as a stranger as well, maybe if you did check it daily you'd start to feel more at home again?

Cool animation though, I only wish it was longer.
Thanks for being the first to reply to me and not that video, Luk.

I could check every day but the boards are so slow it hardly seems worth the effort. Sorry, I'm being a bit depressing, I'm even getting myself down. I really love Star Control, I just am staring to feel like my time would be better spend elsewhere.

Ya know what?

Bump.

I've installed the module, it's fine.

But, like was said, you can just download and run it.

I'll check this one out... eventually.

By the way, I remember that Orz marines are yellow? Huh

Edit: fixed my poor english Tongue
The Orz marines change color depending on their state, whether chasing an enemy or returning to you (at which point they were green IIRC). Basically do them whatever color you want, the in game graphics were purely iconic.

I popped in after a long absence from this board and I see Alex has revived the sequel effort. Well that's great. Then I bop around and see check out some of the other threads. Thing is I've been gone so long I feel like a lurker now. I don't want to throw in my 2 cents into a conversation I probably won't be checking tomorrow.

Which is sad. I still love Star Control and still plan on paying homage to it in a future project that I may never get to. But now I feel like a stranger on the boards that I once checked daily.

Well, if Alex succeeds maybe this place will be lively again.

Ooh, this is new (Posted 19 Aug 2008!):

Don't try to make sense of that box art. It will only end it tears.
28  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Star Controller: A Star Control Blog on: August 22, 2008, 10:13:28 pm
I wanted to do something like this a while back, but never had your drive. One thing I wanted to do was review modern video games by the light of StarControl 1/2. Had this whole rubric involving story, bright colors, clever dialogue, and mixed genre's. I had basically decided that unless a game was StarControl 1/2 it would never get a perfect score.

I'm sure I still have the original document where I had written up the details.

Link or it didn't happen.
*Shrug* If I run across it again I'll link to it. It was pretty clever.

Hasn't this been done before? I'm sure it has. Did it get lost when PoNaF went down for a while?
