The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Precursors, Precursors where art thou?

@ TiLT: Thanks for the link to the new web page! As you may remember, I'm really a fan of your music . There's a lot of good music there, good luck with making your music more public. Anyway, the initial purpose of this thread was to hear from The Precursors about the status / plans for the last remix pack, so I'm glad with the answer. I just hope for a decent closure of this monstrous undertaking cut short only yards before the finish line.

Thanks, I actually used to listen to all of these a long time ago. My question was related to the better Precursor stuff done by TiLT, Void, Riku and Mark Vera. It's a shame they got so close to the end and then stopped (missing probably one or two songs to complete the whole deal).
P.S. If were actually looking at the PNF music page, Saibuster's (Itamar's?) remix is still as good as I remembered it.

The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Remix Pack 4 - The New Alliance of Free Stars

TilT and Void may guess what I am about to say, but I will say it anyway:
I am a person of musical experiences, when I played star control II the first time, I loved it because it played awesome music on my crappy PC speaker (!!!) like no other game did, and what a music at that. There were 2 tunes that made the difference, first was the hyperspace tune but the most important was the orz tune. Up until first meeting with the ORZ for the first time I thought this was a nice addictive game, but then as I first heard it, it brought that sense of alien strangeness that made the game a classic to all of us.
So after gushing again I would like to say that this is the remix I waited for the most and... well... You outdid yourself guys if that is possible. (This means that if you were selling CDs I would be buying them....)
Another awesome tune that fits the game like a glove.

The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / WIPs

Hi, I'm wondering, what are the other WIP (Work in Progress) free source games still in development are you guys also tracking besides this one. I myself frequent:
- Ufo AI - a 3D game in the spirit of UFO - Enemy Unknown only much much better (leagues ahead of all other open source games I saw).
- Archon Evolution - A remake of some "obscure" game made by Free Fall associates called Archon.
- King's Quest IX - trying to make a sequel to the famous KQ series
- Space Quest 7 - The same just with space quest.
- Aftermath - no further explanation needed.
- Quest for Glory by AGD (formerly Tierra) who seem to be the best with adventures the way they were when we all loved them.
So that's my humble list...

I seem to be having some problems with this version. Normal space seems overly bright and the game slows almost to a crawl. There's no music at all in any of the screens.
I have P3 766Mhz with Riva TNT M64 (64Mb)
You need to set up a forum for this game on the game's site, since this forum belongs to a remake of the game's ancestor. And you don't mix joy with happiness as an old saying goes.

If the next pack is going to be anything like the former too I guess we'll have some more masterpieces coming. And you may rush things if you like as that is what created the amazing Druuge music. I am still in awe by your talent (all of the composers). On another note, you should place some stuff on that site sometimes just to appease the people who frequent it (if it doesn't disrupt your work)

The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Poll time once more! about all the people

Well, I should try this too...
1.What kind of poster you are : I post occasionally, I have my posting waves, when they die off I stop visiting the forums I frequent and then remember them some day and resume posting.
2.Best moment in SC2: Well, there are two of them, the first is the first time in Quasispace with the awesome PC music. It is still one of my favourites. The second was my first meeting with the Orz. They made the game fun for me being wacky but dangerous.
3. Favourite book ever (one or several): Definitley: Donnerjack by Zelazny and Lindskold. Yes, that Zelazny. It's so good I reread it every two months.
4. One hobby : Cooking.
5. What you are/want to become in the real world. I will become a software engineer. I wish to be a part of a team writing a great game such as SC2 or Baldur's Gate II.
6. A fun fact about yourselves. I used to tell people the brand names of the cars I saw when I was 1.5 years old. Now I can't tell most of them.
7.Anything else that feels valid and important I loved SC2 because it was the first game that played music (and good music) through my PC speaker.

The game is also known as Star-Control I. It was made by TFB for accolade and is available for purchase on ebay. This project (UQM) is a remake of the sequel (Star Control 2) which was even a greater success. There are no known plans to remake Star Control I. TFB= Toys For Bob, look them up on this forum and on the Pages of Now and Forever: http://www.star-control.com
