The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Smaller Episodic Sequils?

to my understanding the first and dominant phase of this project is to restore a perfect and satisfying hybrid of the pc and 3DO version.
but then, the code will be available for anyone to create fan-based sequels. with some careful consideration and teamwork, this idea would work very well. the engine will be there. the ships and races will be there. you could modify the starmap to create new areas to explore. you could, i imagine, create new races (and please make them better than the star control 3 races).
i would be very interested in helping with the conceptual design of these proposed sequels. of course, who wouldn't? but the important thing to remember is that in order to honor the original game, the quality, spirit, and humor of the original must be upheld. in other words, it should have to be a collaborative process, preferably with the blessings of and input from mr. ford and mr. reiche.

but it's the same exact dialogue from the opening of the conversation? guess that's okay, but it seems a little sloppy to me.
on the subject of dialogue that may or may not be a bug:
melnorme trader greenish states that the fee to answer the question about the bridge turning purple is 12 million credits. the text, however, says 12,000. guess this is probably something missed in the sync between voice and text in the creation of the 3DO version, but still needs to be corrected.

BUT, i should mention that i have encountered a bug similar to the one described in this thread.
when you speak to a mycon about organon, it evokes no unique response at all, but instead repeats the introductory greeting, something like "You are the non, leave this place." maybe that's a 3DO specific error, but it should be corrected as it doesn't make any sense at all to get the introductory greeting repeated after you convey serious information.

ahh no, this got answered in another thread. it was the "mycon question." where to go to tell the mycon about organon. you have the option of telling any free floating mycon, but apparently it only "works" at ep. scorpii. i would have remembered this eight years ago. but not today.

i see.
thanks, since i just hit that part of the game.
so far, only two crashes and i think they have been fixed based on the changelog. (planet lander memory leak thing.) i've been keeping a list of abnormal behavior, but we're not supposed to post bugs in the technical forum. i guess i'll pipe up if i see a major one not listed in the changelog in the future.

star control was the name of the earthling spacefaring organization. i don't think the game was given that title for literal reasons, but because it had been established in the first game that this is the name given to the earthling space endeavor. in that regard, the title is very much appropriate given that the game revolves around the last free earthling's spacefaring endeavors.
that's nitpicky though. and it sounded neat, and substantially different from star WARS or star TREK.
i miss star control 1. any chance of that being ported over too? like, maybe as a sub-game of the ur-quan masters?
