1  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: why don't we make it ourselves? on: December 10, 2008, 12:13:10 pm
...even though it's currently made with Game Maker...

Anywho, I found a serious issue with the latest release. The PDL seems to not work a lot. Holding down the secondary fire doesn't automatically uses it like it does in UQM (Which is a big loss IMO) and using it 'on the spot' seems to just... fail on occasion. Maybe the PDL range is limited making the time window you have to press the fire button too small or whatnot, in any case, it's aggravating.

Other then that, impressive stuff Smiley

That is all kinds of awesome!

the lack of information about your system and UQM configuration (and lack of troubleshooting steps taken) could contribute to the lack of responses.

Hmm, well I'm not really knowledgeable in this particular field, I'm just another gamer who found something that was deficient and tried to do something about it.

This might be a stretch, but if it's not just me who does this type of thing... maybe add a  little footnote of 'things to try' on the bugzilla submission page Smiley

More on-topic though, that pretty much answers my question, thanks!

4  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Technical Issues / Question: bug handling on: July 19, 2007, 05:30:30 pm
I just had a question about the way you guys handle bugreports.

I submitted a new bug about a week (maybe less) ago, which (for me) was a complete show stopper. And it hasn't had it's status changed at all yet, by which I'm assuming noone has looked into it yet. Maybe I'm just a little impatient but I was curious how you guys go about handling bug reports and how often Bugzilla is looked into by the dev team.
5  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / My new forum! on: May 26, 2004, 03:15:39 pm
Hi all!

Not too long ago, I started a new forum of my own. The Gamez forum (chosen, because Games was already registered at boardnation Tongue)

http://users.boardnation.com/~gamez

reactions and comments please on this board. Registering is easy enough Smiley
6  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: The passion of the christ on: March 18, 2004, 10:26:04 am
I just would like to add a few things to this (probably already dead) discussion...

- The reason Jews where the bad guys in this movie was probably because the Jews where SUPPOSED to get Jesus crucified, to die for their sins and everything. If they where all friendly and nice, how would he have gotten crucified?

The Jews couldn't force him to do anything he really objected to
True, but ofcourse for him there was the fear of a rebellion. If a million Jews are outside your appartment screaming to get someone crucified, then there's not a whole lot of choice. Remember that security that time was all with Melee weaponry. They couldn't simply put snipers on the roof...

oh, I have nothing against Jews, but I do think that it's rather silly that they still wait for their Messiah while it's already came...

Idea!! The Pkunk told you that the Ilwrath became totally evil after becoming just a little bit more perfect.... RIGHT!!??
Let this happen to the pkunk. Would solve their hippy posture...

Update: [looks up topic] And the melnorme (ex- mael-num) want to help the pkunk, because it involves killin Ur-quan [/looks up topic]

I have to learn to keep track of topics...

Then add the function to ask this Grin pretend to be the awesomely strong 'unidentifyable' stranger.

Would be neat.
9  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: What parts of SC2 would you like to see animat on: May 06, 2003, 03:25:53 am
How about the Thraddash attacking the Kohr-ah to 'show off' their new ships? that would be insta-carnage...

Ilwrath vs pkunk: a group of 3 pkunk fury's fly towards a planet (reason?Huh) then out of the black darkness an Ilwrath avenger uncloaks, too close, and burns the little blue ships. then cloaks...

how about things like this a-la-masse??
10  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: what would you call it? on: May 04, 2003, 01:56:49 am
how about: "The alliance of free stars return" anyone who knows the story a bit, knows that it's starcon eh?

Ur-quan battles? sweeping the Ur-quan empire? Dreadnought mania?

figure it out, it's late, I'm going to bed... Wink
11  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... on: May 04, 2003, 01:50:54 am
oh well....

How DID you beat a Chmmr with a Chenjesu??!!

and indeed, the transformer rocks. Every time I play the full game mode in SC1 (I still do) they are like the ships that rock. Give me a hierachy battle thrall, I'll toast 'm with the transformer w00h00!

but enough nonsense,

personally, I'd like to see MORE toys in UQM. So people, how about an easy-to-use unit editor for UQM, where you can build completely new units from scratch (or bitmaps, when completely zoomed in) in just an hour.
I'd love to build a new game for it, but that takes too much time, and the game will suck anywayz. I think here's something that alot of players would like.
12  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Looking post-1.0: "Shoring up" the s on: May 04, 2003, 01:39:40 am
I'll have to disagree... since most players (I think) only put up to 200 crewmen in their ship at the same time, and I had already killed 1000 crewmembers (according to Hayes) in a previous game, where I had NO allies at all... I think that you underestimate the number of crewmen aboard.

About the mining. What if you where to find plans for this scattered around the systems. Like, in destroyed fraighters and stuff... it would be a nice 'bonus quest' and it may solve the little issue about it.

And maybe a little more interactivity between Hayes, and the current situation. Once, when I played the game for the first time, I had the Kohr-ah's sphere over the starbase, and Hayes never commented it once. As well as new races. Once you meet new ones (ZFP, Utwig, supox, thraddash etc.) their info should be available with Hayes. especially with allies.
Note to UQM crew: sorry 'bout this... it will probably involve new speach and stuff... but it IS a good idea. (if not, let me know)

and about the androsynths (last time, I promise) you could also find the blueprints for the ships, in like the 4th city ruin (after the 3rd your crew doesn't report it anymore so...) and since the Androsynth are very much like humans, their ships should be flyable by humans. And if the human sphere thing works out, you could also meet guardians flown by humans.

just for those that like to see it, it doesn't involve the race itself, but the awesome ship that alot of people seem to like so much...
13  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Looking post-1.0: "Shoring up" the s on: May 02, 2003, 05:54:00 pm
Well, being new to the UQM forums and such I'll not give you a very extended post, but here goes:

About the Androsynths: Yes, the orz indeed said that there where no more Androsynth. But also remember that when the orz can't *smell* you, they don't know if you are here or not. So if an Androsynth had left off for some kind of long distance mission, then the orz couldn't *smell* him, and they wouldn't know he's there. Ofcourse, the 'synths aren't needed to finish the game, but it might be somekind of "bonus quest"

about the brown Ur-quan: again they could be on somekind of long-range mission. Not knowing what happened to their original species. and it would make a cool bonus quest, but it would show a few plot holes.

the idea about the original alliance spheres is cool. You could mark 'm grey to show that you know that they are old. The crashed ships are also a good idea. And how about seeing the remnants of Zex' ship on the surface? the beast  running around on the surface etc.

so far my ideas. Keep up the good work Grin
