1  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Orz & Arilou: What's the deal? on: June 21, 2005, 06:10:02 pm
Well, the Arilou did warn us that the Orz are not what they appear to be and I for one believe that their alliance with us is based on some ulterior motive. We learn next to nothing about the Orz in the game, which is scary, considering how they practically "invade" our starbase once the captain forms an alliance with them.

I think that if you talk to the orz a bit more, you may be able to read between the lines that though they keep up a certain appearance, they are far from being upfront honest.

One word: DosBox.

Your track is absolutely beautiful. It sounds like something I've been trying to achieve the entire 4 years I've been tracking. You've got vision - and jolly good ass-kicking samples to match it. I'm slightly discouraged by your aptitude but I guess I'll survive... Grin

The text was blue?  You sure?  I could have sworn it was green--at least in some PC version.

Yeah, it's blue. A light blue (cyan, even) on a blue background. I also consider it vastly superior to the current menu system.

There are two things that every tracker or musician has to make in his/her life. The first is a cheesy popcorn remix. The second is one or more horrible SC2 remix(es).

Ok, that's bullcrap. Wink But yeah, I recognize myself from those things... Although I must admit I never called humans 'hunams', but that's probably just because English isn't my native language so the opportunity never arose! Grin

Now that you mention it, I think the time would be right for me to give that SC2-style music another go. It's been some three years since my last attempt... Wink
6  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Starcon2/Starcon3 plot point (spoils Starcon3) on: November 15, 2002, 04:54:27 pm
They're not cows and they didn't de-evolve (quite the contrary actually, if memory serves me), they just... Well, they look like cows Grin

I finished the game back in the day - I found that the most difficult part of the game was to wait for the timed events to trigger. It wasn't an all terrible experience, no, but it certainly didn't hold up to SC2. Which is too much to ask of any game or any sequel for that matter.
7  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Favourite music? on: November 14, 2002, 09:36:54 am
The hyperspace music is the winner (DOS version). I don't care about the quality of samples, I care about the quality of composition, and in that department all the SC2 DOS tracks hit the right spots for me. They're like divinely inspired.. They sweep the floors with even most of today's tracked music. (Either that or then I'm just a sucker for oldskool - but either way, I enjoy this stuff more or less like I would enjoy an album I bought off Amazon!)

I am so looking forward to hear the new stuff as well. The first preview already got some juices flowing, although I'm not sure if it's evil enough for the Ilwrath.

And don't settle for generic fonts - the races had their unique text fonts in the PC version, see if you can preserve them?
