Phew, what a crazy last few days it has been. Xenocidal aliens[ with superiority complexes are nothing compared to E3. Our lead producer Patrick Shaw took to the stage with Sean Plott at the PC Gaming Show last Monday. You can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5j0NKjLBQ7YWe also had a new trailer shown off in the show for E3. You can watch it on its own here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-EnCjcxsJEAnd last, but not least. We have more tasty screenshots from the E3 beta build. For a change from my usual unique style I am also going to post these in their full HD glory (although not 4K because we're not insane here... okay maybe a little). Here we go... Certain events will trigger cutscenes... here's one of them when you discover one of the abandoned Lexite structures.Hyperspace... and I only now realize that I left the gas on.I'm also going to need you to go ahead and come in on Sunday, too...Visuals improve on a nearly daily basis.Insert something about the ugly duckling here.UI refresh is in full swing. Here is a look at selecting modules in outfitting.Sometimes you need to commit vandalism to do a good deed... or not.The only limitation is your imagination... oh and your RUs.If you have any questions about the E3 event or about anything in the screenshots feel free to reply to this post. See you soon guys! LinksWebsite: https://www.starcontrol.comReddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/starcontrolofficialDiscord: https://discord.gg/starcontrol

The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Star Control Origins "Tiny Dino" Update [2nd June]

Distinct crew members? What do you mean by that? Do they have stats and skills, like in Starflight?
I can't, and don't, want to reveal too much but basically, you will be able to pick up unique characters who will travel with and talk to you about things. Your first officer is one of them. I'm kinda curious, will the available resources include all the various exotics from SC2? It wouldn't be a Star Control game without the ability to gather Neutronium, Tzo Crystals, and Magnetic Monopoles, right? (To name just a few.)
You might see some familiar stuff to strip mine from planets

Salutations sun-baked carbon-based lifeforms of decreasing H2O content. It has been another busy week here over here at Stardock as we come hot off of Memorial Day. There has been a large focus on visual polish and fine-tuning gameplay elements of the Adventure as the first beta as rolled out to founders of Star Control: Origins. We are not showing off this work to the public yet but I hope to have some sneak peeks for you guys very soon. Before we get to some of the new public screenshots I'd like to give a shoutout to our producer Patrick Shaw! He had an interview with GamerHubTV earlier last month you can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2J21ltBt2uASomething we have added in with Origins is the ability to have distinct crew members! You might notice a human in this screenshot. But, we all know it's the upgrades that make the galaxy spin! Work on planetary gameplay continues. It's a balance to keep each encounter interesting and worth exploring whilst not just giving the player a bunch of easy targets on a map to zoom in on. Here we have a pretty sweet view of the alien gas giant this moon orbits. Orion's Spur is alive, very much so. With Scryve cruiser hanging around Sirius A it might be wise not to hang around for long here. The last screenshot today is one of a pretty ordinary terrestrial planet, but take a closer look and you might spy something just on the horizon. (Psst, it's at the top)
Until next time sweaty lifeforms o/

Hello again interstellar friendos! I hope this transmission is coming through clearly. You never know what quality of components you are going to get when you buy from the galactic market. I hear one trade replaced their anti-matter with ant-matter once. New Title ScreenToday is our last monthly public update, the reason? Because from now on we are going to be doing WEEKLY updates up until release. In technical parlance, we have entered ludicrous speed for game development. That being the case we thought we would take a moment to talk about something very important to all of us here. https://www.stardock.com/games/starcontrol/article/489103/star-control-origins---may-2018Hyperspace Is BusyThe story is one of the most important parts to get right for any good action-adventure RPG like Star Control. This is why the first person hired for Star Control: Origins was Chris Bucholz, our lead writer. That story has gone through years of refinement, but now comes the in-game iteration. Pacing things out and making sure the presentation of everything from the voice acting to the flow from planet to planet is smooth. This is what our founders and select testers are helping to improve along with our internal teams. New Fleet ScreenFor past, present and future updates on Star Control: Origins you can read our fancy new blog right here: https://www.stardock.com/games/starcontrol/blog

I'll try to better control my tone. Dear Princess Celestia, today we learned that sometimes innocuous statements can come across badly, and that aggressively policing ambiguous statements like that isn't a good move. Yeah, I did not see it as an attack or anything. Thanks for getting everything cleared up. And in case you're curious, SchismNavigator posts under the same handle on Stardock's forums, so I guess that he was using it many years before the litigation started.
Yeah, it's just the handle I use is all It's good to know that you can eventually choose your preferred landing zone once the tech on your landers get upgraded. No one seemed to address that on the Stardock forums.
I am excited for this game.
Yep. We have a whole host of unique upgrades that let you do a few different things. More than that, however, we basically have two huge categories of equippable items you can find/earn/buy. The first are what are in effect equipment modules that can do things like buff up your flagship, extend your fleet capacity, boost your lander tech etc. The others are cosmetic items that let you change how your flagship actually looks. Our idea is that each player should end up with a fairly different flagship at the end of their game which they can then take to explore in other universes. This does not include all of the many alien ships, of which we have multiple ships per each major race. If you watch the trailers carefully you'll notice the Scryve are getting a cruiser in addition to the battlecruiser and scout already in the Fleet Battles beta.
