16  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Events ingame related to early dynarri contact? on: November 15, 2003, 09:36:19 pm
After having restarted UQM again, this time I forgot to fetch the Taalo device first (although I went to Vulpeculae and allied with Orz and searched the Androsynth ruins i simply forgot to pick it up when I was in that area of space).

It was not before I reached the Umgah Homeworld that something was wrong, the usual small-talk with the Talking Pet - until  I expected to see the "seek death at the hands of your enemy" compulsion not work. This time however it did work - I found myself 2 weeks later, face to face with an Ur-Quan who questioned me and got worried about the new Dynarri menace. He mentioned that the Kor-Ah Primat certainly was too stubborn to cease the Doctrinal Conflict to take care of the Dynarri (or would not even believe it) and so he had to inform the Kzer-Za to "win speedier".

Sadly I do not have the time to play the game through several times just to see what would change.

Does someone know what difference this event makes?

e.g. do the Kzer-Za fight better and the game limit of 2160 is pushed back somewhat, like when you get the Utwig to attack the Kor-Ah?

After the line with SDL something the remaining lines fly through so fast that I can´t read them, nor that I could press PAUSE and thus be able to read them.

Is there a way to let the lines run through slower on the screen to see what the lines with Joystick say?

After playing with UQM a while I came to the point when Greenish hasn´t got anything to sell but fuel - sure much cheaper than fuel at Sol station, but still ONLY fuel  from a race that has thousands of sources of information in time and space of which to reveal a single one is so expensive that the whole earth would be indebted...

Instead of having unlimited Resource Units or Credits I would like to have higher prices - after all the Shofixti quest already reduces crew price from 3 to 1 and after one frees the Chrmmm there are no RU problems anymore as far as I remember.

Something I would like to see in the game would be an explanation why the Ur-Quan did not find the Taalo Device before me.

They were exploreres, had thousands of scout ships, fought the Dnyarri for a long time wearing stuff like in Sado-Maso-Hell so that they *REALLY* had any incentive to search for a solution.

And after thousands of years some human captain buys info from a Melnorme Trader that the Taalo were manufacturing a device to protect others from the psychic Dnyarrri powers and it might still exist on their homeworld, takes a walk on it´s surface and voila! it is still there...

When I start UQM (and I do with the -o -f -q high -c biadapt)
it runs through very fast, and I never have seen a line
"Joysticks were found" - neither 1 nor 0

Only 4 lines with errors:

I too would like to play UQM using the Joystick and not the keyboard.

I took a look at the keys.cfg file, but have no clue what to alter to get it working and the line that says something like "Joysticks should work if they are USB and in Windows XP" further discourage me.

Is it possible to use the Joystick in Windows 95 C when it is a non-USB Joystick (an old Quickshot)?

Or the BSS remains such an unseen mystery we hear only rumours of, because they managed to steal the Illwrath cloaking technology to set up deadly ambushes from which few escape to further spread the tale of this renegade legion? ;-)

And I would have guessed that "Real soon" would mean 18+ years, referring to the Illwraths answer to the Spathis question when they plan to return to the Sol system. ;-)

If the Kohr-Ah hadn´t been perhaps the whole process of enslaving the galaxy by the Kzer-Za would have been much smoother and faster and the Chenjesu would have not been able to even create the Alliance of Free Stars, so that they would have been imprisoned alone.
