I am looking forward to this. Hopefully my computer will be able to run it. Hopefully it will be an amazing game & not a pile of crap.  Huh

I have been keeping an eye on this thing... though I don't know whether or not I will ever decide to get one.

Oh.... duh.... I have come across TheMisterCat and Mark Vera before. I forgot about that page though. There's A LOT there I haven't heard. Thanks!

And if anyone knows anything else, please post it here.

Does anyone know of any music similar to the stuff from the game & the Precursors remixes? I love this stuff, but I just don't know where to look for other music like it. I have no clue what artists to look into... Undecided

EDIT: Gah, I just noticed that they allow the entire world to buy SR2+Reboot off of them.... And that they sold the game for 4 dollars from the 11th through the 14th.. Sad
Why do I always miss out on awesome stuff like this? D:

What?! I didn't realize that!  I don't know how I missed it. Sad I'd been checking the page a bunch of times too! Oh well. That's just an example of my great luck.

Yeah, it's English. Stardock released it. You can download it from them. Not sure if there's a boxed version in stores though.

well, i still have work to do, but here is an update of what am i doing

the second link is the source code

Just curious, why are you using "MegaUpload"? It is quite annoying to wait for 45 seconds before I can download (because I don't want to pay them <_<). I use RSU Upload. It doesn't have that crap, and it works well in my experience.

Also, why can't you just use a plain zip file instead of RAR files? (I also don't feel like buying Winzip, or downloading an alternative cluttered with Adware. <_<)

Megaupload offers happy hour from 9pm to 3am here. Unlimited downloads with no wait. They like you to install their toolbar though, but there are firefox extensions and such that bypass that. Your idea of using another site doesn't sound bad though either. Surprised there are still some that don't make you wait!
8  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Questons about Space Rangers 1 & 2 (PC games) on: December 18, 2008, 03:38:35 am
Well, I wasn't sure where to ask this stuff. The Space Rangers boards on gamefaqs are pretty dead. So I figured maybe I'll get some replies here.

Does anyone have the expansion for Space Rangers 2 (I think it came out this year)? Should I get the expansion right away or should I play without it for a bit? Is there any way I can try the RTS battles in the demo? I wish I knew if they'd work on my computer. Are they really that demanding? The rest of the demo seemed to work just fine... (though it really didn't give me much time to try the game out!) I have a laptop which has 1GB of ram (but will soon have 2GB), a dual core Pentium processor, and some crappy Intel GMA 950 graphics processing (though as I said, it seemed to work well enough for the demo, at least as much of it as I had a chance to try...)

And as for the first game.... is it still worth playing if I play the second game? I mean, for the story or something? Or is there no point in playing it?

I plan to get SR2 as a digital download from Stardock because it won't have Starforce. I normally buy games on disc, but  I'm making an exception to avoid Starforce. It'll probably end up costing me a few dollars more too, but I think it's worth it.
9  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: True Star Control 3 with Homeworld style RTS Battles! on: December 14, 2008, 01:02:26 am
I wouldn't mind RTS battles much as long as it doesn't require some super amazing GPU and isn't too complex. And as long as the game doesn't become purely an RTS only... I like the exploration and stuff like that. I'd actually like to see more exploration elements in a Star Control III. Ground battles would be interesting too.

How is Game Maker?  Does it give you control of just about everything? I was trying out  Multimedia Fusion Developer 2, but I decided to stop with that for now because there was some stuff that kinda annoyed me. Doesn't Game Maker have a built-in scripting language? I don't think MFD2 has something like that. Anyway,  I'm just trying to learn Python 3.0 now.

I have an explanation for "reviving" the Androsynth, kinda. A large Androsynth colony could be discovered somewhere. Maybe not many there though. The mystery of what happened to the rest could remain a mystery, probably even to them.

I'm thinking Nicholai either forgot about this, or just stopped doing it.
It's sad. This always happens!  At least he tried though.  Cry
If only we could actually rely on the professional game development companies.  Nope, they're too busy making five million first-person shooters, MMOs, and a crap game for every single movie that comes out. The same stuff over and over again, with very few exceptions here and there. And sometimes they also don't finish their projects.  Sad
13  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: why don't we make it ourselves? on: December 03, 2008, 09:28:32 pm
How does UQM use it? Isn't everything always in the same place?   Huh
14  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: why don't we make it ourselves? on: December 03, 2008, 08:22:51 am
Er, I think that might be ever so slightly outside the realm of what a fan based initiative can produce.
Okay, yeah, I'll admit that I exaggerated a bit. (I suppose I was thinking more of professional game development teams.) But it's very possible to make a game with lots of places to explore without that too. That's what we need. Procedural generation isn't absolutely necessary, but it would be very interesting.

No.... please don't let this project die! Give us an update!  Grin
