76  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Aftermath on: March 03, 2005, 08:56:53 am
Ok, thanks! I'll let him know the next time I see him on.

Also, earlier I asked about the latest version that allows saving... any way I could get it?  I like the game, but I hate being unable to save, since it seems to be messed up in the newest version.
77  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Addon packages...? on: March 02, 2005, 11:55:17 am
What does it modify?
78  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Aftermath on: March 02, 2005, 06:05:17 am
Anyone know if there's a way my friend can make this game work on his computer? He has a  7 year old 3dfx Voodoo3 video card. He gets an error that says failed to build device list
Earlier in the topic, Madgap said "Are you, perhaps, using an old Voodoo card? (crosses fingers)" So I'm guessing he meant there's a way to make it work...?  Huh
79  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Addon packages...? on: March 01, 2005, 10:20:17 pm
What are the addon packages? What do they add; extra sounds?
80  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase CafĂ© / Re: How about DS? on: February 28, 2005, 11:54:25 pm
That would rule! But... I'd rather see a brand-new Star Control game for the DS.... but that's dreaming, either way.  :-/
81  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Ur-Quan Masters in other languages on: February 27, 2005, 11:06:37 pm
I'm not sure, but there's a German version being translated.
82  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Aftermath on: February 27, 2005, 03:13:41 am
k, thanks.
I'm guessing this next update is gonna be pretty big. I hope he releases it soon...  Smiley

edit: What's the latest version that allows saving? I want to be able to save. And is it still on his site, if I type in the right version number for the zip file?

I converted the strategy portion of the game over from an SC2 style go anywhere map to a SC1 style starlane map.  I was hesitant before about the conversion, but the pathfinder was a lot easier to program than I thought it would be.

I'm not sure what that means, 'cause I never played the first SC. Anyone want to explain?  Huh
84  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Similar games? on: February 24, 2005, 10:49:32 pm
Well...
I already have Firefox. IE is a piece of junk compared to FF. I've been using it for months. I did try d/ling it in IE too, but that didn't work either.

edit:
Is Vega Strike any good? Downloaded it... trying to figure it out. Doesn't seem much like SC2/UQM, though.

Search isn't going so well. I even actually picked up some evil malware somewhere, but that's taken care of now...
I have another topic on another forum, but I don't have many good answers from there either.

Can't find any EV demos... the ones I found are all for Mac. I can't find an X-Beyond The Frontier demo... cnet's download is not working.  Privateer is too old to run on XP (won't even run in DosBox).

Is there anything... like a good UQM fan game...? I mean... it is open source, isn't it?  Or they exist, but none are any good?
Huh
85  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Similar games? on: February 24, 2005, 08:42:05 am
yep, that is crazy  :-/

Maybe he'll release a new version soon.

Edit:
I got Winrar, but it's still telling me the zip file is damaged. I downloaded it from a different site, even. What is going wrong here? Embarrassed
86  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Similar games? on: February 24, 2005, 08:33:23 am
I thought the save feature is supposed to work, though...  Huh
At least I figured out how to mine the asteroids, anyway.

Working on trying to get Starfight VI... found another site where I can download it faster.
87  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Similar games? on: February 23, 2005, 11:36:32 pm
I'll look into the PC version of Starflight.

Anyway, can anyone help me with Aftermath? How do I save? When I go to the save/load screen, it won't do anything!
And how do I mine the asteroids?  Huh

If anyone has any other games, post those too. After all, that is the true point of this topic.

Anyone played Starfight VI? I know Starfight was mentioned, but this is newer.

Stupid Home of The Underdogs site... everything I download from there is corrupted.  :-/
88  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Similar games? on: February 23, 2005, 12:03:03 pm
I downloaded Aftermath, but I don't understand what I'm supposed to do.  Huh
How do you tell the difference between what's equiped on a ship and what is available to buy?
Do you mine with the laser?
Is there a way to know where the starbases are?  'Cause I think they're in different places each time, or something.

Those are not the only things I don't know... I don't think I understand the basics. I customized the controls, so at least that's one thing i figured out on my own,
I can say it really looks like fun, if I could figure out what to do and how to do it.
89  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Timewarp, anyone? on: February 23, 2005, 10:18:29 am

90  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Similar games? on: February 23, 2005, 08:13:20 am
I played that, it was ok, but not as good as SC2/UQM. It lacked something that I can't really figure out.

Anyone else know any games?

Why aren't there more games like this? There are lots of developers and it's a big world... so you'd think someone would make something similar.

And whatever happened to Timewarp? I never really bothered with it, but now the project link doesn't work. (Edit: Nevermind, I found it)
