Misc Text Bugs
« on: December 03, 2002, 01:55:17 am »

Didn't see these in todo or bugs...

1) Zot-Foq-Pik (sp?) text gets all messed up when you talk to them.  You'll see text that is supposed to be one or another of the two that talk show up on both.  You often see text overwriting as well.  This "double speak" (text) shows up only after the second one starts talking...

2) Text when communicating with other entities sometimes overwrites other text.  I can't think of a specific example, but its pretty common.  This seems to happen only when the game moves through text, not when you use the right button to scroll through.

I want to confirm this issues (I do not think it is two, rather the same one). I have the latest cvs-checkout compiled here (checked out a few hours ago).

Subtitles do not get erased sometimes in conversations before new subtitles are shown. It seems to me to have something to do with conversation animations. As if the mouth or limbs animations take precedence over erasing the subtitles. Probably happens a lot more with Zot-Foq-Pik becasue their subtitles are drawn directly over their images and overlap with animations all the time.
I also had this happen with Starbase Commander immediately before and after the Ilwrath react to the probe and with Slylandro probe when you tell it 'Good-bye.'

In addition, Zot-Foq-Pik seem to statter a little in speech when you talk to their homeworld  :-/ They sometimes repeat the first second or so of speech (never happened anywhere else). And periodically they have the same subtitles displayed for both speakers at the same time. Do not know if these are related.

My system is dual-celeron 500; 256MB RAM; Trident Blade 3D - AGP 8MB; Windows 2000 SP2.
I know it's pretty ancient, but runs SC2 very well otherwise in fullscreen 640x480 supersai. So I just want to say "Thank you, thank you!" and congratulate everyone on the job well done. This game is an all-time classic and one of my favorites.

This also happens when the Starbase commander has news.

His "I think there's something you should know" gets written without erasing the "glad to see you"

The Mycon text at Beta Brahe is screwy too. After I ask them why that planet is special, and they respond with their Juffo-Wup stuff, instead of getting anything that makes sense to say to them, the only option it gives me to say is "bye sun device". Then when I choose that, the Mycon's speech says what it should say, but "GOODBYE SUN DEVICE" comes up where its text should be.
