Hi, I have recently discovered this excellent game and have allready become addicted  (especially after I found version 0.22 where the melee doesn't crash all the time anymore)
I'm wondering, how do I find the Quantispace portals? I've downloaded a map with the locations but there's nothing there when I go to the there.
The trader has told me that there should be a portal near Columbae and Chrandasaechar that opens for a brief time the 17th every month but I haven't been able to locate it.
I'm getting tired of wasting time and hundreds of fuel travelling from one side of the galaxy to another all the time.

It sounds like you're very close. Located at (36.8, 633.2) is the only natural portal from Hyperspace into Quasispace. It stays open from the 17th to the 20th of each month, so you may have to sit there and wait for it to open.
If you want to figure things out on your own from there, don't read the rest of this.

When you get there, you'll be sitting in the middle of a bunch of portals back to different sections of hyperspace. This is how jumping around hyperspace is accomplished. Before you start exploring the portals, though, you'll probably want to go to the portal farthest away from the others(you'll know it; it's REALLY far away). It will take you to the Arilou's homeworld. Speak to the Arilou and get the portal spawner. Using the portal spawner will allow you to open an artificial portal from anywhere in Hyperspace into Quasispace for a cost of 10 fuel each time you use it. That should about cover it.

BTW: it's Quasispace, not Quantispace. As in, kind of like space, but not really.
