Morrowind--fantasy influence+sci-fi setting=greatest game ever produced.

Oh well, since that doesn't exist, I'll have to settle for Deus Ex.

Wait, this is a Star Control forum.  Let me say that if you could choose who to ally with and who to fight, and actually destroy their civilization, I think it'd be really cool.  Maybe it's just me, but I'd like to tell the Green Ur-Quan I'm helping them win their war against the Kohr-Ah, so they'd fight with me, then I'd turn on them, and go after the Zoq-Fot-Pik...
Good times.  Some races...just annoy me.  But I don't know if I'd go for the Melnorme or not.

No interference in this holy doctrinal war is allowed! Just for offering your help, the Ur-Quan will destroy you and your comrades travelling in your battlegroup.
Ask the Thraddash about that...

Replaying games can be fun, if its a game where its actually fun and challanging to do so.  And once you beat a game a couple times, its even better to find some sort of user-imposed dificulty mod to crank up the game even more!

FF2 at level 5?? Most of the characters come into your possession at a higher level than that. (Cecil starts off at level 10 and Kain at level 9)
FF2j doesn't use a level system, and the spells and abilities are not amenable to silly avoidance tricks like FF5 is.

Here are some things I have tried. * indicates I won that way. x indicates I do not anticipate winning.

- FF5 you can do it going no higher than level 7. I got up to the long bridge sequence before I found out that I had gained too much experience to do it at level 7 itself, and would have to settle for level 9. At that point I lost heart and stopped. (I could pull it off if I wanted to)
- FF5 using only the classes of the wind crystal (surprisingly easy!)
- FF5 using only the 'weaker half' of the classes: White mage, Blue mage, Red Mage, Thief, Beast Trainer, Dancer, Bard, Berserker... *
- Zelda with only the wooden sword *
- Zelda without getting the medicine *
- Zelda without getting either of the rings or the wand *
- Wizardry without using any class but Priest (surprisingly easy! Priests rock)
- Wizardry without any magic in the maze (I used the priests from my priest-only team for healing back at the castle). x
- Megaman 2 & 3 without dying or using energy tanks or any special weapons (except on monsters which were immune to the pea-shooter) *
- Metroid 3 with only one energy tank (I have gotten to Ridley and cannot get further) xx ( you need 700 or so life to survive the mother brain's unblockable psi attack)
- Chrono Trigger without saving the game
- FF6 without using the 'broken' abilities of swordtech, blitz, tool, etc.
- FF1 with a party of four thieves, four white wizards, four black belts, two red mages (other characters dead), ONE RED MAGE (can't get through the earth cave due to paralyzation), etc.
- FF1 without using items in battle
- FF1 without class change

You have talk to them about themselves and how money is obsoltete in their culutre. Then asked for their help and they should get upset that they consider a trade with no fair good or exchanges vulgar. Then the next response is one of most favortie that the captain makes. This should make their bridge change to blue and you can at this point ether go back and try doing trading relatiions or attack them.

Don't you get the option [when you first bump into them] of CONVERSE/FIGHT!/GAME?

Just choose fight and blow'em away... 500 hard-earned RU IIRC.

Ah, and Dead_999? Try
- Zelda 3 with lv.3 sword, lv.2 Shield, lv.1 armor, no bottles, regular magic level, 13 hearts.

As for FF1 (NES) challanges, visit the GameFAQs Board for the NES game. There was a lot of crazy stuff going on there a few years ago.

I read those challenges... That's where I got some of my inspiration. I was also astonished at the stupidity of the first '4 white mages' walkthrough.

As for Zelda 3 --
level 3 sword isn't a big deal. Level 3 shield is similarly not a big deal. 0 armor is really whacked. No bottles compounds this greatly. 13 hearts is really quite a few, so no additional burden there.
Similarly, regular magic level is hard to get worked up about. I am curious how you defeated the moth thing that can only be damaged by the fire wand, and you need more magic than fits in one meter. Is there another way of attacking it?

Anyway, I can't quite beat it with all the advantages, just because I can't fire the bow at Gannon soon enough -- it just bounces off. I tried using the fire wand to give myself plenty of time to center myself, but it still didn't work. After a couple hours of trying, I decided that I had cornered the guy thoroughly enough that he was harmless and called it a victory.

There's people who have gotten to Safer Sephi in FF7 with initial equip, no items ever, no materia, level 1 limits only, and no inns except for the mandatory ones. I may have forgotten a condition or two, as well. That's a crazy challenge game. Supposedly really, really hard in the bits where you can't have either Yuffie or Aeris in your party.

Try going to the bottom of the Infinite Caves in ADOM, the enemies get stronger when you get stronger, but a whole lot faster.

If you risk chance you'll lose hearts when coming in contact with it, the fire, or the spikes, your sword also works.
And the Level 3 Sword is really really weak compared to the level 4. The level 2 Shield doesn't block those laser-eyes in the Turtle Dungeon, so you need to take damage and RUN. Compounded with normal armor, no bottles, and minimum hearts, I attepted this once and took me about 60-80 'lives'. Waaay more than it took for me to beat the game the first time.

Also, try games with "built in" challanges. Like the optional trip to Hell in Tactics Ogre (PSX/SFC) or the 100-level Pyramid in Lufia 2 (SNES?SFC)

I believe there is a gene inside of her called the "super geek gene"... I call it a disease.  It's incurable and there have been no survivors.  Symptoms include an urge to have night-long LAN parties and play Star Control II 100 times a day.  Warning: Contageous in geek-infested places like chess clubs and Warcraft 3 multiplayer games.  Apply ointment daily to ease the pain.

I play warcraft 3 internet games all the time, I'm not addicted, I guess there are some cases in which you cannot catch he bug:)Wink.
