Fast Conversation Sounds

Pretty much all conversations on my PC take place at lightspeed (played so fast that most of the time all of the sound is done well before the second line of captions is up) at normal sound settings. If I crank hardware sound acceleration all the way down the problem disappears. I've played on a couple of other PCs and haven't had this problem, kinda wonder if it isn't soundcard-specific.

Didn't notice anything like this in the lists...

Quick System Specs:
WinXP SP1
Athlon 900
256MB PC133
Abit KT7 (VIA KT133)
Vortex2-based Aureal Soundcard

This is probably a sound card driver bug for which we cannot do anything, you should use the workaround you mentioned.

Thanks for the quick reply - I figured I'd post it even though I thought pretty much the same thing you said, just in case...

Oh, and FYI, music is fine either way...didn't think to mention that...

I have the same problem as you, and I use an Aureal2 as well.

I suspect it is a driver problem...

Not to knock anything or anyone at all, but isn't the Aureal Vortex2 not supported anymore and the company out of business? I remember having one and I upgraded to Windows 2000 and I had all kinds of problems. Got rid of that card very quickly as I had to use Windows 2000.
