Remixs
« on: September 06, 2003, 08:19:42 am »

First may i say i intend for this to be constructive critisism, or compliments, and if anyone is offended then i appologise now. i will also say that i am not a computor composer myself, so this is feedback from a listening point of view.

OFFICIAL REMIXS
slylandro:this is very good. it is completely origninal, but follows a good melody and key development. as long as the voice doesnt interfere with the ingame voice, this will work perfectly. it is a great improvement on the old one, which was very annoying.

orbits: this is just background music. it is more spacy, and a good improvment on the original. i like how it is not overdone.

shofixti: no matter what everyone sais about how it doesnt fit the background of the race, i like it. maybe it could use more drums, and less turn tables, but i love the turntalbe duet at the end (high, low, high, low). in my oppion it fits well, and is way better than the old one.

ilwrath. I like how this one has a melody, unlike the drum thing in the original. however, the bass is more jazzy and less sinister. i the tone of the bass it changed to by more like the old one, and mixed with that sweet melody thing, it would be great. also, the drum beat can be bit distracting. if it is made less promonint, this remix can be saved.

UNNOFICIAL

thraddash by ringwraith: this is sweet. i have no more to say.

hyperspace by sailbuster: this is equally sweet. but as game music, i dont think it will work as well. i think it may work better if the part with the drums comes earlier, instead of that fancy bass arpegio. but it is awsome Cheesy

yehat by mango: this i SWEET. the whole strings/classical thing fits so will. the only segestion i have is to scrap that voice at the beggining.

melee! by kumiorava:i love the bass in this, and the drum beat. the fact that the melody doesnt change key but the bass does it awsome. this one is perfect.

pkunk by eric berge: the remix is the same as the original, but with different instrument. though the original was so good it couldnt be improved that much appon.

spathi by pablo: thsi was well done. i love those silly sounds that u added, and the new drum beat. if a better instrument for the melody could be found, it would be awsome.

starbase by rush: this is awsome. the droning is sweet. the whisling can be annoying, but i dont minde it too much. it is great wiht or without that strange sound.

if we contact the composers, and tell them how to fix the stuff up, that would be great. (by fix up i mean make even better)

i only mentioned the ones i liked. the ilwrath one needs a lot of work, but the melody is way better than that drum thing in the original.

Personally I think the Ilwrath remix is one of the best from Riku, although you haven't heard the final version yet.

i c that the shofixti remix was ment to be silly. like the pkunk and spathi tunes, a silly tunes fits a silly race. but the whole voice thing is bad

The BEST unofficial remix, if you ask me.
Same thing, but better.

And since it's ogg so you can put it directly into the UQM too.
