Very Young Orangutans Could Grow Bananas...
« on: September 11, 2003, 09:53:31 am »

"Very Young Orangutans Could Grow Bananas, Perhaps Rather Well"

The color of a planet seen from space will give you a general idea about the quality of the minerals on it.  That phrase is the mnemonic that helps you remember, from good to bad, what color planets you should look for. (Hayes tells you this, when you ask him "What kind of resources are most useful to our mission?")

So what the hell does it stand for? VYO CGB PRW

V - Violet?  Probably, but see below
Y - Yellow
O - Orange
C - Cyan?  Cream?
G - Green
B - Blue
P - Purple?  Pink?
R - Red
W - White

Can someone enlighten me here?

Violet=Pink

P=purple

c=cyan,

note however that red planets are occasionally ruby worlds with vast quantities of exotics Smiley

Whites are quite useless. I've never found A white planet worth mining. The rest can give you very nice surprises.

Whites usually have very low gravity and thus very low fuel costs (around 4 RU), so if running out of cargo space isn't an issue the base metals can be worth it.

Duly noted.  Thanks for the help.

Now pardon me as the corpses of the crew pile up in attempt to accumulate enough biological data to please the Melnorme.

startup idea: using the syreen to get various life forms.
Then auctioning the stunned slaves to the melnorme as bio data and to the druuge as furnace fodder.

p.s. "the grand fot" as in "the grand fot who used to be a part of the timewarp team?"

Yeah, that's me.

Now, if you'll excuse me I must mount an armed response to Kohr-Ah incursions into Tucanae.

If it were the case, the Syreen would be the richest race in the galaxy. Too bad they can't compel races to do other stuff besides "be nice and join us"...well, I guess...in a way, without psionics and with....ample assets... they do. Grin Only works on humans, but they'd be a helluvan ally if they could do Dynarri-style stuff.
"VUX, you're cute, but you're not my type. Wait a minute, I think that planet likes you...Yes, it told me so. Go greet it, as fast as your Intruder can carry you!"
