Just thought of an idea for something after the version 1 is released.

I suppose the station in Sol has normal fleet facilities. Why shouldn't it have a recreation area? You have the options of "build ships", "base commander", you can have "Spacebar" where you can meet some of the alien crew members serving on your ship, hear some interesting rumors, or even hints for the future side quests. You could start almost immediately talking to Fwiffo, asking him what happened to the Spathi later on, hearing how miserable he is, etc.

At least you can talk to your crew captains...

Not a bad idea for an addon/fork to make the game more replayable.  Sort of Wing Commanderish.

I like it too.
New dialogues could be added (especially when the Syreen join the revolution, although none of these will go along with you, since they all know about you and Talana) quite easily. And since I'm playing PC-style anyway, no speech needs to be recorded. Wink

For those who know about ctree (see html://www.star-control.com for more information), we could already start generating new dialogues.

Oh yeah: the graphics of the aliens migth need to be changed, since they are not aboard their own ships/starbase/planet. But i could live with that inconsitience for a long while (for about another 12 years or longer ...)

I guess changing the graphics shouldn't be too difficult - just cut and pasting - but I don't know much about it.

Why shouldn't the other syreen captains try to steal you (Zelnick) away from Talana? it would make the game more interesting...

Yeah, I'd like that too. Maybe like the Zoq-Fot-Piq. One in the middle saying nothing??

Am I the only one who thought of their keyboard when they read the topic?  Grin

Anyway, it sounds like something that would definitely flesh out the SC2 universe and add to immersion.  Two thumbs up for this idea (after version 1 is released), but the tricky thing is to make it so it's believable.

Also, the idea for a space bar kind of reminds me of the old Privateer game by the now defunct Origin, or the Escape Velocity series by Ambrosia Software.  Had fun with the bars, hope to see them one day.

No, I thought of the keyboard to.

I've always thought it'd be awesome to talk to the talking pet whenever you wanted to. I mean, he's there in the hold with you. And if you have a Orz, Spathi, etc ship in tow, why couldn't they hail you in specific situations to give their 2 cents? I've always wondered why, after you get Fwiffo he suddenly become mute. Only the talking pet eventually chimes in.

Yeah, I'd totally dig this idea.

Maybe I'm thinking of the PC version, but can't you talk to the Talking Pet whenever you want by "using" him in the Use menu? Hm, now that I think of it, it might be neat to be able to talk to your starship captains, though it'd be a lot of work to implement.

Actually the idea for the name came from one of the spacequest names. The guys in sierra also had an interesting sense of humor (short for command post - compost)

I think in every version of the game you get to talk to the talking pet, but it would be way cool to talk to some others.

I also thought that if there is a bar, maybe we could have bar brawl scenes (between Thraddash and everybody else, for example), but that might be a bit over the top, as there are no dialogues(yet)...

improving the graphics would be hard, cus ud idea want a bigger screen resolution. what would be awsome is u could do this whole talking to indeviduals on other planates, and here rumors. maybe we could add more side-quests.

aren't the 'quans too big to fit in a regular bar?
And add the fact that they are highly carnivourous and territorial and this idea comes close to an episode in the Alien movies series.

It is sad you can sell fwiffo but then if you buy another eluder ship instead of fwiffo's ship, the captian won't be fwiffo! Cry I think the programmers should change the game by:

Sorry DJ, but this is about something a bit different. The spacebar is where you can meet other alien captains, maybe even run side quests, or do whatever you want with the captains. It's supposed to be a way of adding more options to the game, one of which is talking to Fwiffo whenever you want. But that's not the only thing. See the thread and add some ideas...
