How do you do the emergency warp escape?

Numpad + and SPACE

But that doesn't seem to be working.
Of course this is just starting out and hitting hyper space
first thing...

Are there any good links out there for a manual or a walkthrough at least for the late comers.

Reminds me a little of starflight.  Hopefully it can be just as fun.

Thanks!

you dont get the escape mechanism until you go to the earth space station.
Also, going to http://www.classicgaming.com/starcontrol/ is a good place to get faqs and maps.  Look in the main starcontrol faq for links to (kinda) comprehensive faqs.

the + key on the numeric keypad, located to the easternmost hemisphere of your keyboard, plus the space bar (very large, gap inducing mega key) located in the southern hemisphere of the same aforementioned keyboard.

these two shall be your path to salvation.

coward.

As the captain of the new alliance of free stars should NOT use the escape button. And with that nice precursor ship and atleast a spathi and a human vessel on it you should not have anything to fear...

I'm sure Captain Tanaka will appreciate your never using warp escape.

to those out there with a laptop which doesn't have a keypad. i've read somewhere here that others were have this problem, and i fixed it on my laptop.. the key is to hold the space bar down first, then tap the Fn and + key a few times.. that seems to work for me, hopefully this helps someone
