Can you save?

I read that the number of save game slots has been increased to 50, and I see the load game option.  But for the life of me, I can't seem to find any reference to how to save a game in the manual.  I've tried every key combo that I remember using before, but none of it seems to work.  Am I missing something?

It is in the game menu options, under 'games' -> 'save'.

Ahh, I see now.  I had to hit space to access those menus.  (my bad, didn't see that line in the manual)
