Who are you talking to? Wink I guess Deep_Jiffa just reacted badly to chmmravatar's suggestion to join Timewarp.

True!!! The survey was nice( and long one ) but if it was part of the game, it is the best part ( no offense to TW lovers).

I guess there's no pleasing some people.

It's StarControl online with more than 2 ships at a time! Personally I like it. Okay, it's incomplete and lacking a programmer right now, but I like it.

Orz might be MIA, but youBastrd! and GeomanNL are currently coding (and the mysterious yurand is bugfixing like crazy).  The only thing I've really done lately was to fix the configure script.

I think Deep_Jiffa is hatefull towards TW because he expected a complete remake of SC3 (with plot).  It'll still be a while before that's done.  In the mean-time, it is incredibly fun to play Star Control against another person who is not using the same keyboard.  GOB and Vanguard are interesting first attempts at a more in-depth style of play than melee.  GOB makes you survive & build up your ship; multiple planets span a large battlefield.  Vanguard has entire solarsystems, psuedo-hyperspace travel, radar, and a huge battlefield.  Vanguard's planets began rotating a little fast after we switched from degrees to radians, and if I recall correctly no one has fixed it yet, so don't get too close to an oribtal path...

BTW, lets take any further TW talk (pro or con) over to channel44, so we can keep UQM forums a cleaner.

How can you like the melee? All you see is yourself from close distance and two arrows. One is the planet and the other is your opponent!

If you haven't found way to contol camera in TW (hint: look configuration) no wonder you "hate" TW.

Deep_Jiffa, there are far more view options in TW than in SC1/2/3.  If you'd like for them to be explained, I'll gladly do it on the TW forums.  If not, then please, lets get back to UQM, since that's what people come here for.

Okay, just finished the survey on another PC. (WinNT and Navigator 4.7)

And no, i cannot upgrade at the moment Sad

What i missed was a simple question like:

comments? place them in the field below:

or: how do you like timewarp as it is now (unfinished)?

I really like it (the melee (team, multiple players,...) is just perfect! GOB is great!
And i like the diversity of the ships, although i cannot remember all shipnames.

And i prefer the cameraview TW offers (herocentered, if needed looking a bit ahaed, zoomed in for shortrange shis, zoomed out for longerangekillers)

Alas, i do not have the time to join Channel 44, maybe another time in a few months.....

Still to say great work boys! (Both to UQM and TW teams!)

How do I hate timewarp? Let me count the ways:

(1) Melee... This is like Star Control in what way? The melee plays completely different than SC and SC2. The ships are balanced completely differently. And why arn't there teams one can select like SC2? And why isen't there some way to filter out all those fan made and SC3 ships? As to how to fix the balance: I'm not sure. I think part of the problem is from increasing the turning increments. I think the other part of the problem is that the person who put in the SC2 and 1 ships may have never played SC2 or 1. And what idiot put in what the camera does when a ship cloaks? It's fine if the ship is a ways away when it cloaks. But if it's close to you... well your dead. When a ship cloaks the camera should zoom out to medium / long range instead of staying at the same zoom level it was. This is with the camera setting that most closely emulates SC2's.

(2) AI... SUCKS.

(3) It loves to crash. (I have Windows XP.)

(4) Multiplayer... I couldn't get it to work...

You can set teams, load teams, save teams in a textbased menu under Mainmenupoint "Teams" The original SC ships are first in the long list.

(2) AI... SUCKS.
Okay, it feels different than the SC-AI, but nonetheless i think it is good. Try for a challenge plaing against 3 AI in one team against you.

Well, it works fine under my XP-installation.

(4) Multiplayer... I couldn't get it to work...
Network gaming is always difficult to start. Actually i thought TW did good, although i also have trouble getting it work (works 1 out of 5 times, even when i do not change any setings).

As a fanfiction game i think it is great work!
And nothing ever will appeal to everyone.
