I love YaBB 1G - SP1!

I am a huge fan of the starcon series (especially 2 ) and about 2 years ago I got nostalgic for thoses early 90's days when I played it and decided to look for a copy online. Ebay provided. It was a Star Control 3 box with 1 and 2 included on a cd, however the cd was just in a sheath with nothing accompanying it. I had trouble getting it to work in windows and forgot about it for a couple of years. Recently a Computer literate friend of mine helped me by setting it up with sound and making a desktop icon. After moving twice, I have no idea where the box is, but I do have the manual for starcon3 which has nothing in it about the other games. It seems as if the first two were an afterthought in the package and anyway, now prof. Zorg is prompting me for copy protection that I have no earthly idea about.
Can anyone help me?

I don't know if this copy protection existed in the first game or the second game. If you want to play Star Control 2, however, I highly suggest downloading The Ur-Quan Masters for Windows. This forum is not for support of the old DOS version, and generally it's my opinion that the new port is superior to prior versions.

Have you tried running it in dos mode (assuming you're running one of the 9x family)? Prof. Zorg would only show up whenever I ran the game while still in Windows. If you're not running a member of the Win 9x family, you'll probably need Dosbox.
Edit: I hate typo's.

Prof. Zorg is tough to beat, but you shouldn't use Earthling Cruisers against him. Try getting past him with something faster like Pkunk Furies. If that fails, answer all of his questions with races names that were new to SC2, you'll eventually get one right.

That or the word kill. That's the only answer I could ever remember.

What about Professor Zorg from SC1? There's no way to avoid him there.

there is a star con crack out there that allows you to skip the copy protection. It's been years since I've used it and don't even remember what the name of the program was. Although... I might have the cracked version on the original disk for some reason. If you're just looking to melee with the ships, use ur-quan masters and only play with the sc1 cast. Though the single player of SC1 was fun, it gets old very quickly.
