Is there any opportunity make some kind of official Russian version? So, could we make a translate that would be accepted by UQM authors?

One thing you'd need to do would be to create new alphabet pngs for cyrillic characters...
Вы должны создать новые архивы png для алфавита
Russian Audio translations would be easy if you can find several people who speak Russian and have access to good recording hardware.
Русские тональнозвуковые архивы легки. Вы должны знать людей говорят русского. Они должны иметь хорошее оборудование записи.
hmm, babelfish gave me the proper cyrillic characters, but mozilla copy->paste converted them into extended set ascii html codes.

One of the goals of the UQM project is to facilitate things such as translations. We're moving to XML for most of the files, including the text. If you want to make a Russian (or any other) language pack, you'll need to adapt the following:
- communication subtitles files. They will need to be converted to XML eventually, but this probably won't be much work and can probably be done automatically.
- content files containing other textual descriptions (such as ship and star names). The same caveat as with subtitles holds.
- hardcoded in-game strings. You probably shouldn't bother with that at this time, as this work will have to be redone when we introduce the XML system (and thereby remove all hardcoded strings), and this can be made into an add-on package now. There aren't very many at this time anyhow. These strings include the startup text, the menu and planet strings in PC mode, and (currently) the save game names.
- changed strings in images. The main menu is one (you should probably ask Mark-Vera how he produced the current ones, and if he has any intermediary files for you (such as a menu without text), and what font he used). Other places would include the "really quit?" and "battle!" (for supermelee), images. If you do this, we'd appreciate a list of all the images you had to change.
- I'm not sure to what extend it is possible at this time to input non-ascii characters in places like the captain and starship name. Code adjustments may be necessary (but then again, they may not).
- new voices. This is pretty optional. English voices with Russion subtitles would work too.
- for some languages the code will need to be adjusted to allow right-to-left reading.

1) New voice is not a problem. 2) StarShips & Stars no need to translate. 3) Changed strings in images no needed.
Common is translate the dialogs. The problem is encoding XML file.
Name of ships & buttons and etc. can translate in one day.
