Hyperspace (Re-enter) (remix for purists)

Okay.. well, it's not real remix. I made all the instruments as own audio tracks from the original mod song. Mixed together with modern techniques. Means, effects, and other things. And mastered the result. The old mod sounds are so outdated, that you can't do miracles, but atleast I tried  Tongue

Needs "proper" remixing someday anyway.

Like I said in your other post, just remove riku's song and you won't hear it. But if you want to replace it with this one, just remove riku's song and put this one instead. (no offense to riku)

Well, this sounds almost like the original. This is more like a remastered version than a remix. Definitely one for the purists; nothing new here for the rest of us.

Still, IMHO, this version is one of the best. Riku's original is hard to improve on without doing something different. I still think Mark's Electro Blast mix is the best, with the original (or the Re-enter "mix") and Saibuster's mix close by. However, I'd like to point out that Riku's "Across the Galaxy" mix grows on you. I suspect most of us were just expecting something different.

Try Rush's mix too. It sounds like an Industrial (VNV Nation) remix of Hyperspace.
Riku's remix BTW isn't bad at all, just not apropriate.

I think it's pretty good. I actually liked the orginal more than the 3do version and this improves on it.

Absolutely incredible.  I'm not a purist, but this is the best remix I have heard.  I especially like the new wind sound, and the richer xylophonish sound.  Thank you for all your effort!

I'm confused. So, Mark Vera, is your real name Jouni Airaksinen? Or, is Mark Vera the name of the team... or you are Mark Vera, and Jouni fiddles with the stuff, or heck I dunno. I just want to say...

SOMEONE GIVE JUONI AIRAKSINEN A COOKIE! Or even better, a well-paying job making music. The only songs that I liked in those packs were labeled as Jouni's work, whoever that is, and they are simply awesome in the ears of a person very picky about his music. From a non-purist's vantage, they are way cool. From a purist's, even better.

Well, as with anything, there must be a qualifying statement. I think that this hyperspace tune is nice, but am sticking with the 3do. It's not really on par with the other work. Also, I think that while some of the little ditties are okay, most of them don't feel very polished.

I'm planning on giving the ditties, and then the Arilou comm, a shot myself. After I fix my display (640x480 at 16 colors does not display composition programs well). I can't promise anything, but I will attempt to put my money where my mouth is and get some songs that are satisfactory to me out myself rather than expecting someone else to Smiley

I think he'd answer "yes" to that one. Unless he wants to confuse you. Smiley

I'm inclined to agree that Jouni (not Juoni; that's Finnish for "plot", in the scheming sense of the word Wink) is a very good composer, remixer and a lot of other stuff. Every remix he has made so far for UQM has been excellent. However, there are several outstanding tunes in the remix packages by other people (e.g. Riku's Melnorme mix and "Under a Red Sky" by Medieval Future).

People seem to think "Mark Vera" is my realname, although they say at the same time that "Mark Vera" is cool artist name. Yes I it is just an artist name I came up with (google tells me that there really exists people with that name). My real name is Jouni Airaksinen. Personally I don't think it's that great name as an artist name. Few hundred years ago my last name was written as "Airaxin" would be a little better though Wink

Haha, Juoni Jouni Wink

What comes for the job as a composer.. I'm quite critical about my own music, and yet just hobbyist as musician.

Wow. I like this. I agree with Novus, this is more like a remastered version than a remix, which is cool with me. I had nothing against the hyperspace song in the remix pack, it was just a different song. Nice work on all the remixes.

Well, this is technically a remix. I've mixed the instruments again, even though they are the original ones, still ReMixed. Remastered too (original isn't mastered all so.. you can argue with that as well..)
