Game Frozen
« on: December 03, 2002, 11:01:04 pm »

The game froze up tight when I flew in normal hyperspace from alpha wolf to beta wolf.  I had the game minimized while I was in hyperspace, and when the music stopped I brought it back up.  Apparently, I had arrived at Beta Wolf because my ship had disappeared into the system, but the game froze right there.

were you on autopilot?  if  you were, then you were hit by the standard autopilot bug, which bombs out when entering a system.  the only way around that currently is to disengage autopilot before entering a system.

which means no leaving the game unattended =)

Under Linux (compiled from sources), no such problem .. autopilot all the way .. btw, concerning the so-called bugs, I don't feel like they're spawned so often  : played for over 10hours straight without any ..  no serious ones, blocking the system .. (linux 2.4.18 SMP, Radeon AIW)

So answer is simple : switch to Linux  Grin
