There is no such thing as the freeware SC3 unless its a demo.
Also, this is the UQM forums, which is a free clone of SC2, not SC3.  Most people here hate SC3 with a passion.

Example:  My suggestion for the problem with your (likely illegal) version of SC3: delete it from your hard-drive, even if it doesn't contain a trojan virus, it's still the digital equivilant of necrotic tissue.

It's in the manual.

Oh, you don't have a manual because you didn't buy the game. Guess your going to have to figure it out yourself.

Since when is abandonware legal? the about page on the-underdogs.org says

Har Har.... ABANDONWARE. That's the first time I've ever heard that phrase before. I've actually bought this game twice (sad eh). First time when it came out, the second time not too long ago on eBay (lost my first copy).

Anyhow, I'm not going to get into an argument about whether this is illegal or not, but I will say that your answer is in the manual (I just downloaded and looked through it).

Did you click the little plus sign next to the squadron of ships? When you do, they will fly to you and add themselves to your complement.
