New Version for Mac OS and addons?
« on: January 28, 2005, 11:19:32 am »

Any idea when the new version will be coming out for Mac OS, so I can play the addon remixes? Triedthe files into the content folder *both zipped and unzipped* didn't work. As for command line, if anyone can copy and paste what thuer doing it would give me a step in the right direction..
Thanks

Excellent advice all, but it would be better if it pertained to his problem at all.  Tongue

Step 1:  Go here:  http://www.submedia.net/uqm/  Download the updated game and launcher, follow the included instructions to get them installed.

Step 2:  Follow these instructions

I've been "almost done" with the new-style Cocoa launcher for several months now.  Wink  It will support add-ons, as well as the new program options that have recently appeared, and it is intended to be built-in to the OSX version (rather than a stand-alone program bolted on to the side of it)   Recently I've decided to scale back the features I wanted it to have (nifty drag-and-drop auto-installation being one of them) and get a "rough version" into the world, that I can improve upon later (he said, knowing that there is nothing more permanent than a "temporary solution").  So it should be "real soon now", honest.

OK, I downloaded the update as you said, Then onto step 2.

Unpack the "extra" content zip files in the Contents:Resources:content folder, then launch the game normally.

So I unzipped the remix 1 file to Contents:Resources:content and itstarted up but still with the default music. So I decided to leave it zipped in the same location. Same results. does it need to stay zipped or unzipped in a different location?

Run the game from the command-line, and use the --addon switch (further instructions on proper use of addons can be found elsewhere on the forum)

Unpack the "extra" content zip files in ~/.uqm, then launch the game normally.

As for the other 2 options, I'm going to need a little help on how to do this exactly

or just type an example of the command line that you run in the terminal to get the addons to work. searched for instructions for addons couldn't find what I needed.

Thanks in advance

P.S. Any estimates when the new launcher will be out?

Yes, it was made available last week.  Please read the README file included with the 0.33 update for detailed instructions on installing/using add-ons and extra content.

Always leave everything zipped.
