No, the thraddash rocked.. I beat many human players with it- many good ones mind you. You just have to know how to actually fly it.
How did the Kohrah have no weakness? a thraddash would easily take it out.. get close and behind the sucker, keep shooting your pellet gun, and if the damn thing does a flame circle then just turn a bit and engage full afterburner

Life is just a game...and death is just the same

My favorite ship has always been the Utwig Jugger, for its shear power and being the only ship capable to destroy the strongest ships such as the Kohr-ah, Urquan, Chmmr, etc.
Then I also loved flying the Druuge. As hard as nails when it comes to manuevering, but its very long distanced primary shots were fun to watch, ripping an enemy apart in a few blows.
The ZotFotPik is very hard to master, but don't we all just love ending off an enemy with the secondary "LLAAA."
All in all, my fav. all time remains the Utwig Jugger.

Hi all, I just want to begin by saying you guys are the best This project is ... such a terrific idea ... words fail me ... *sniff*
Anyway, my favourite ships: ZoqFotPik, Pkunk, Orz, Supox, Thraddash... however I could kill anything (computer controlled :/) with a spathi eluder And the Kohr-Ah and Ur-Quan ships were also fun in an overpowering sort of way... In the first game my favourite was the Yehat Terminator, but I much prefer my "new" favourites
I also really enjoyed using the shofixti ship to kill Ur-Quan

I don't think I'd let a Thraddash remain behind me for very long if I was in a Kohr-Ah - I'd either power away from it dropping mines as I went (follow me if you like) or I'd whip round the planet. Many battles came down to cunning or lucky use of the gravity well.
When I said the Kohr-Ah had no weaknesses I didn't mean it was unbeatable, just that it has no gaping flaws like so many other ships, and no obvious nemesis. All of my favourite ships were a bit like this, eg the Androsynth and the Orz ships. The Jugger was great and very strong against a lot of ships but a Chenjesu kinda ruined its day. Conversely, you'd expect a Jugger to destroy every Avatar it ever came across. A Mycon couldnt hurt a Yehat or a Jugger piloted by anything other than a total newbie and so on and so forth.
I had a mate who played SC2 on a 386SX-16 and could kill anything in a Pkunk, but when he played it on my 486-33 he'd generally get blown to bits.
Just for a laugh I want to try Frenzy mode on my 1.2 GHz athlon.

i agree with Chad, MmrnMhrm is probably one of the best ships in the game! i really like Chmmr/Mmrnmhrm/Chenjesu and i can probably kill half a fleet with one MmrnMhrm or one Chmmr (if using the gravity whips) i always laughed at my stupid (har har har) brother when blowing his Orz with my Mmrnmhrm x/y-form! i also really liked the Pkunk, especially when blowing some Kohr-ahs with it! (and having a pkunk-pkunk battle) also, i really liked the Supox, its very easy to kill a kohr-ah with it using the "Circling Death" mode (turning it around your opponent and shooting at him) only, i cant remember how i did it well.. thats all!

zoqfotpik. I almost cried when I heard that distress call.
tounging someone was sooooooooo great.. I'm obviously not seriously thinking that zoqfotpik had the best ships, but they had by far more style than any others. :]
I guess glory device was pretty stylish too. =)

Thraddash by far was the most stylish and the best for effectiveness vs cost. A good pilot can kill pretty much anything with it (as long as they don't get cocky) whether the enemy's computer or human controllen.

Not really. Awsome cyborgs are very good at avoiding the flames and any good person would just pillbox.

Why is it that most people's favorite ship seems one from SCII? Oh well, I played SCI for years before even hearing about SCII and SCIII, so my favorite has been and always will be the Arilou Skiff. With it I can beat every single Hierarchy ship in a row, given that the computer is set on Standard (anything higher and the Spathi ship becomes too much of a challenge). And given that I don't make a stupid mistake I can beat any Hierarchy ship on a one on one battle (sometimes I need to get warmed up before I can take out that Spathi ship though). It doesn't matter if it's a computer or a human (mind you most people who I get to play SC aren't very good pilots ) Then of course, when I win, there's the victory dance, to insure another win, where I make the Skiff look like it's chasing it's tail (I do this when the ditty is playing).

Ooh, I used to play this game against my sister all the time. We'd crowd around the keyboard and jam away...hehehe. I got very very good with the small ships, being that A) The big ships were too obviously powerful, B) speed can be more effective than sheer hitting power, and C) I'm a perverse freak.
I came to really value those little ships, especially the ones with a reputation for being "different". Like the Umgah Drone: looks tubby and slow, but my sis would often yelp a protest when I zipped backwards with my antimatter cone on and toasted her Dreadnought!
Other favorites: Ariloulaleelay Skiff (can take out a Kohr-Ah Marauder with some patience); ZoqFotPik Stinger ("Yeah! The tonguing is the best part!"); Orz Nemesis (can this really be called a "little" ship?); Supox Blade (moving in all directions is AWESOME!); Pkunk Fury ("Jerk! Dodo!"); and, last but definitely not least, Shofixti Scout (BLAM!).
I used to throw those ships against my sister's fleet of larger ones, including Chmrr and Kzer-Za, and come out...well, not always victorious, but at least with a large chunk of her fleet reduced to radioactive dust.
Oh, I am SO looking forward to this game being fully updated and ported to modern platforms...I'm imagining her look of utter shock when I show her my latest "new" game...

You're so right...Small ships are the greatest. One time I was playing with my father and I decided to give him an advantage, so I crashed some of my bigger ships and my Skiff into a planet and somehow in the end he had a fully crewed Ur-Quan Dreadnought and I had a Shofixti scout and I was able to win without blowing him up (bad player that he might of been that was the hardest battle I ever fought). And in SCII I'll take a Traddash Tourch to either Ur-Quan ship anyday. Hell I'd take it over an Utwig. With a little work you can force him to waste his shields and then use your Secondary Weapon to slaughter him.
The only small ship that i can't take is the Zot-Fot-Pik. Too close range a battles for my taste.

1. Orz Nemesis The rotating turret can be deadly in the hands of a capable pilot, and the *GO GO* marines are downright awesome. I love using marines on slow bulky ships like Melnorme and Mycon. Plus, marines go RIGHT THROUGH the Utwig Jugger's shields!
2. MmrhnnMhrrm X-Form I can't tell you how many battles I've won against computers and humans using the X-Form. The one form has long range guided missiles and amazing speed (enough to escape Mycon plasma balls and Chmmr Tractor Beams). The other form has fast turning and powerful short-range lasers. The trick is to learn how and when to transform (I transform A LOT). By watching my power levels, I can effectively turn the X-Form into a very fast, very manuverable ship with a long-range tracking weapon.
3. Thraddash Torch I never use the front gun of the Torch. It's all in the after-burners, baby. It's a shield, it's a speed boost, it's a weapon.
