a very fast, very manuverable ship with a long-range tracking weapon.
Gee, it sounds like it's nearly as good as a Ploxis Plunderer in the hands any old fool.
Back to SC2...
I really like the Marauder. It seems to me to be the most balanced of the three 30-point ships. The ship is very versatile in tactics - an effective camper/ artillerist, it can also be devastating in close range with a double sideswpe of FRIED, or simply lay mines and force the opponent to run away until they hit them. If any one species wanted to go on a galactic rampage and wipe out all other civilizations, this is the one to try to do it. Oh wait! They do.
The Chenjesu is a very classy ship, and shares this range diversity, though the tactics are not quite as varied.
The Supox are deadly in the hands of a pilot who has wrapped eir mind around the controls. I'm getting there.
The Androsynth is very balanced and has few positive weaknesses. Also classy.
I love limpeting things. VUX may be weak against most ships, but I can't quite say no altogether.
I like the Zoq-Fot-Pik. It takes real guts to fly that ship.
Lastly, the Shofixti about equally good at everything, and can be counted on to finish off what others couldn't (Yehat, Utwig, Kohr-Ah, whatever).

The Nemesis! Not only does it do a fair bit of kicking ass (as previously stated hundreds of times), but it looks like a manta ray. The fishiness of the captain and ship give it personality.

precursor service vechile. hellbore first and second slots, 3 weapon guidance modules, 1 crew pod, 1 high cap fuel tank, fill the rest with shivas, one word: unstopable! but since you cant melee with it right now, id have to say the yehat terminator. it held its own quit well in sc1.~DEFIANT

I have 2 main styles of playing 1. The run away and shoot. I use spathi or orz depending on the speed of the enamy ship. 2. Fly close kill, and run away. This is good with the ariloo and pkunk.
The supox and the yehat are also good, but hard to master

I've been trying out some new tricks with the ZoqFotPik Stinger. With a little creativity, you can take out some rather nasty ships with it in no time, such as AI-controlled Yehat Terminators. Just fly straight at 'em, tongue 'em once, and, if possible, warp out. Quick, efficient, reasonably safe, marginal crew loss. The Stinger works nicely against most other ships that don't have incredibly powerful weapons (e.g. both Ur-Quan ships). Considering its low cost, the Stinger is one of the best ships available. It's totally awesome!

For me, the start of a Cruiser/Dreadnought battle was always a "race to the gravity well" If I couldn't get a speed boost before coming into the Dreadnought's weapons range, it was a terribly short fight.
But once I remember running to the gravity well, with a Dreadnought in hot pursuit, and its response to my gravity whip was to do one of its own, which put me very comfortably within weapons range. The fight didn't last long after that.
