no more spheres of influence?
« on: December 04, 2002, 08:05:05 am »

hi, i have no prior experience with sc2 and so i don't know if this is a bug or just part of the game.

all of the spheres of influences on the large map screen are gone, and i have not seen any enemy ships lately, except for the space traders.

My captain at the space station said something about ethers.

thanks,

You don't see the sphere of influences until you are told where the homeworld is or find it for yourself. For example; the Spathi sphere will apear after you speak with the Spathi on Pluto. Oh and just a suggestion, talk to the Starbase Commander about old races. He tells you what solar system some of the orginal races live in. Then, if you go there, talk to that race, and find that they have NOT moved a sphere will apear.

the korah won, does that mean that the game is not worth playing anymore?

The Korh-Ah are the black Ur-Quan (a.k.a. the bad guys). If they win you should go back to an old saved file or simply start over. Most people lose their first time, it's no big deal. But, anyway, the Korh-Ah won't win until sometime in the year 2160, so unless that's what you're at you still have some time. Although, I don't think that's what your talking about...How many spheres disapeared? Just one or lots of them? If it was just one then you're talking about the Spathi. After a certain amount of time they will disapear. *Hint*Check their homeworld.

Yeah the time limit is annoying the first time you play (you want to explore everything, but you can't). That's how I died the first time I ever played, but then I picked up from an old save and the game went by very quickly. And now, that I've played this game more times then I can count, I can easily finish all goals with plenty of time to spare. Although, I do find myself being killed about 10 times (by ships, not the time thing) before I can finish and am forced to use my saved file to "cheat" death. But, then that's what keeps this game interesting.

They shouldn't all disappear at once, though.  When the Kohr-ah do their thing, you'll be able to see a very clear and obvious path through the galaxy.  They'll actually move in a circle destroying each race as they go.  In fact, I'm pretty sure you can still win the game as long as there's at least one race still alive.

Well as I said in another thread the Zot-Fot-Pik die first and then you see most of the Battle Tralls spheres disapear BEFORE the Korh-Ah move to them (the Vux for example just disapear). Then they move up to Traddash space, over to Utwig/Supox space, down to Yehat space, and then you have but a short time before you see the sphere reach Earth (you can still win after they kill the Yehat). Once it does the Korh-Ah will explain that all sentient life in this region of space has been destoryed and that you lose. I remember this because when I first played UQM I was playing around and so the Korh-Ah went on their rampage before I could even get the Ultron, so I sat in Sol and watched the sphere move.

Unless you're REALLY taking your sweet time, like I did the first time I ever played this game, and I got whomped on long before that.  :E

Once you learn about Quasi-Space, time hardly becomes a constraint anymore. But before Quasi-Space, just visiting the Supox and Utwig alone takes an insanely long time. Providing you even know where to look for them in the first place.

Greenish, I would like some information on alien races.
Wink

I AM irked that some of the info he sells you in the current events and alien races overlaps 100%. Paying twice for the information is bad business.

wait a minute, that still wouldn't make any sense. Maybe I'm wrong, because I haven't played the game to it's very last, but I have heard on earlier threads that once the Kohr-Ah kill the last of the sentient races, there's an end message saying you are beaten, then (i've heard) the game is over. And another thing, wouldn't the Kohr-Ah's circle of influence still be there after they killed everyone? Am I missing something here Huh

Yeah, my joke notwithstanding, this does sound like a bug rather than a failure to explore. If there are NO spheres of influence, something is wrong. The Ur-Quan and Kohr-Ah at least should stick around.
