Pkunk saveable or not?

The pkunk say they have a vision of the yehat coming together with them once again....

but i cant find a way for them to come together... without killing the pkunk....

is there an item/quest im missing, i started the revolution, but they still like to kill the pkunk....

what am I missing? an object? am i suppose to use the caster in space by the yehat and tell them something? what about the talking pet? any ideas?

Ive read that, it got turned into a "how to destroy the sa-matra" thread...

that still doesnt work the pkunk still get killed once they go to the yehat....

okay more of the real question, will they join together like the pkunk said they would in their vision?

but they still travel to the yehat, and they still kill teh damned birds...


yet they said that in the future the yehat and pkunk will be together....

That's the thing. They aren't killed when their sphere of influence disappears. That just means their fleet is no longer traveling through space where you can see it. They show up much later and you find out what happened.

The Yehat and the Pkunk merge. You don't see it during the game. What happens before you attack the Urquans "Great Trophie" (Another spoiler) and AFTER you attack the six guards. The ships that you lose attacking the six guards are replaced by pkunk and yehat ships. They talk about winning the revolution and finding that the queen is a pkunk.

Actually, you don't need to start the Yehat Revolution before the Pkunk reach them. I always start it after they disappear and it still works fine.

Curiosity has gotten the better of me again; is it possible to forstall the pkunk until the Khor-Ah attack them?  if so, is it possible to have the Khor-Ah kill the pkunk, have yehat still standing, start the yehat revolution, and have a pkunk queen?

Well, no. The Pkunk merger can't be pushed back further than a certain amount... (seven transit times between Pkunk and Yehat space, plus a little extra) and that is sooner than the Kohr-Ah would rampage.

But doesn't their transit-countdown start when you first meet them?  If you wait until later in the game to meet them, you could get them killed by the Kohr-Ah maybe?

I think that the commander still informs you that a species is moving through hyperspace whether you have contacted them or not. I am not sure though....

Sorry for the double-post, but it just came to me - If you look at the PNF conversations for your lander, one report talks about finding the ruins of the Pkunk. It also talks the Black Ur-quan killing the cities and your lander finding a arifact on the planet (The spindle). There is one for the Druuge and (EDIT: I just double checked) Thraddash also. That means that it IS possible for it to happen.  

EDIT: Here is the quote form the lander regarding the Pkunk:

THESE RUINS BEAR SAD EVIDENCE TO THE DEMISE OF THE PKUNK PEOPLES. CAPTAIN, IF YOU HAD ANY HOPE THAT THERE WOULD BE SURVIVORS... I'M SORRY -- NO ONE COULD HAVE WITHSTOOD THE RAIN OF DEVASTATION THAT MUST HAVE FALLEN HERE NOT LONG AGO. IT WAS THE WORK OF THE KOHR-AH, I'D BET ON IT! ALTHOUGH WE HAVE FOUND NO SURVIVORS, WE DID DISCOVER AN INTERESTING ARTIFACT. IT IS A CLEAR, CRYSTALLINE OBJECT, SHAPED SOMEWHAT LIKE A SPINDLE. Hmm... I think that no matter where the fleet goes, the Pkunk homeworld remains in place.

Still, who knows what order the Kohr-Ah wipe the races out in?
