Thanks for the clear-up D_999.

I heard rumors that a new game is coming out that is RTS - don't know what the name is, but it is suppose to be very good.

Another clarification:  an acronym mentioned earlier was FPS (first person shooter).

MMORPG's (massively multiplayer online RPGs) are still around, and Ultima X looks like it will be good (uses the 3rd person perspective from Ultima IX), but there's no RPG aspect to it, which makes me want to gag.  The people that enjoy MMORPG already are signed up on the games they like, and have characters that they've spent (too much) time on.  I wouldn't put any stock in companies that throw all their resources into a new MMORPG today.

Fallout3 has been cancelled.  Sad

Maybe companies looked at the bad sales of SC3 and decided that there was no market for the style of games (instead of realizing that it was a quality issue).

I really miss the graphical adventure games. The last Monkey Island game was pretty pathetic as far as gameplay goes. I had high hopes for Full Throttle 2, but aparently it's been cancelled.   Cry

Apparently, a few days ago. Oddly enough, Lucasarts has removed the press release about the cancellation (it shows up on Google, but the link just redirects you to the main Lucasarts page), so I can't tell if they've changed their minds again.

Fallout 3 was canceled? Why?
I love those games...I still need to find a place to lay hands on Tactics (and don't tell me EBay, I hate it.)

The superior five, all being sequels.

Star Control 2 (adventure)
Master of Orion 2 (strategy)
Fallout 2 (rpg)
Freespace 2 (simulation)
System Shock 2 (fps)

Note that their ancestors were good too, maybe even better.

What else? One Must Fall 2097, Death Rally (you gotta love the musics)...

Nowadays it's all about graphics ... nothing else.
