well, after formating my hard drive and reinstalling windows 98se, then finding out i cant find the drivers i need to install most of my thingys to make my computer work offline as well as online, im back with windows xp pro, and an updated pc all around... whew!

also... caught the worm lovsan.e aka blaster as ive found out after the above ordeal. its gone now, i killed it with "antivir". does any one know what this worm does when its activated? my firewall "zone alarm" intercepted it when it tried to connect to somewhere on the inernet. thats when i fired up my "antivir" program and said "take that worm!". then my wife calls me a nerd and gives me alook.lol. oh well. needless to say its been an interesting week.

and to DJ. in another post i didnt mean or call you a spamer. its just that you like to talk... alot, nothing wrong with that either. so if i offended... im sorry.

todays joke of the day:

why do they call it PMS?...


because "mad cow disease" was taken.

ha ha ha

and if there are any lady star controllers out there, dont worry, my wife smacked me for that one...

How did you catch the worm? I thought that one was dead. The one going around now is the MyDoom virus. I got 32 emails with that virus.

Worms never die when an OS requests that you connect to a network to upgrade, but the worms attack while you're upgrading.

What I do:  download all OS updates on a machine you're sure is okay and burn them to a CD.  Install your OS w/o network plugged in, and patch your OS/install firewalls before you ever plug your computer in.

...Or you could just get a firewall - That should keep the little nasties out for a little bit. Meanwhile you download! - Oh -and don't download attachments from your email before you have done it.

Problem is, if you install the firewall after you've gotten attached to the 'net, you've probably already gotten a worm (takes less than 30 seconds).

Worms and viruses never die. not untill hte os they were made for is no longer used. this world is full of poeple who dont even understand how to install a antivirus. so their computers are hives for these viruses and worms. I just scaned and cleaned a computer for one of my clients and it had over 20 different viruses on it. I dont know how it still ran but its all spiffy now.
the only way i could see all viruses getting wipe out is by a virus. a virus that infects a machine then spreads and on certian times of the week it will DL a virus scanner and run it. of coarse this would look like a DDOS attack on the antivirus website.

For some peculiar reason I've never encountered a worm or virus of any kind. I suppose there's a larger firewall on the way to my PC.

I do have AntiVir though, just in case.

My cpu hates me as well just bought CS (don't laugh) and found out I don't have enough free space for it 400MB wtf! I only have a sad 67MB(LAUGH AT THIS A KILL U ALL) what if we didn't have CD this shit would be like the original MSoffice on 30-3.5 floppys.

that's why I use a yahoo address It may suck but It's safe It keeps everything on their servers so it doesn't download worms or viruses and such to ur cpu and plus it run norton to scan for viruses from attachments when to try to run or dl them. and unlike Falcon I've only had 2 viruses mailied to me. sent them angry e-mails back to them. Although I've had no protection whatsoever on this machine since it got fragged it seems to me that anti-virus programs will sometimes amplify the effect of a virus.  and it also seems WINXP in more suseptable than WIN98 to infestations let me know what u think bout' this having no proof whatsoever to back this up.

You didn't what to long did u? I don't know lot of people say that for some reason.  I don't see anything wrong with it.  It's free and it doesn't copy DL's to your HD u can check it on another machine and not lose any data.

Fixed it found out I had 4 copies of UQM on the drive music voices everything, even had a 0.2 version in there freed up bout 300 MB, had to wipe SC(the other SC) 120MB(should have scrape TW though) also had to trash all the Led Zep MP3's 450MB roughly(I encoded the box set and How the west was won). and DJ we're only in the same boat till I can acess dump and step up a win98 OS on the other drive activation code for WINXP is a real pain.

yes, that was my old system. and yes, back then, i really did hate my pc. sadly, it was my fault that i caught the worm. i had my anti virus on disk, but hadnt installed it yet. and now i have no more troubles. even bought a brand new copy of windows xp home. just in case i messed up something, there would be no fuss about fixing it. sorry for the confusion.
