Well, if the first time you get to Procyon is when you free them , you don't need to send the ilwrath anywhere. Another reason to send the Ilwrath is it's fun.

Dunno; I've never had that problem until the second time I visit the planet. They always tell me "Surprise! We noticed your interest in this planet...set a trap...blah blah blah". This is PC-SC2 info though, so it might be one of the subtle differences between PC & 3DO.

I've been about half-and-half on that. Sometimes I go to Procyon without sending the Ilwrath away and there's an ambush, sometimes not.

Strategic wise yes, but you have to remember, once you free the chmmr even the illwrath are not a threat. Besides a myon can make it across the map in less than a month, so it is not that strategic.

In UQM 0.3 you have to remove the illwrath to free the Chmmr. The original version that I played did not require that.

Maybe this was an undocumented (on these forums at least) bug that got fixed. That may have been the original intent of SC2...
