In the original Star Control, VUX Intruders had the special ability to always start the combat at a very short range, while every other ship pairing got the distance randomized. This doesn't seem to work in UQM. So, what's up?
This tracks the original Star Control 2 as well. I'd always figured that VUX fleet discipline had collapsed when their finest admiral was forcibly retired after the war.
Because 1.0 is a faithful recreation of the original game, and the original game did not give options. Now, 1.1 or more may have an options menu with silly stuff like this, but wait until then.
You know, a VUX is a slow and painful way to die. I mean, get enough limpets on anyone and it'll die, but I really wish that every limpet sped up the VUX a bit, instead of slowing down the enemy. It's annoying killing with or being killed by a VUX, cause by the end of it you're both moving like molasas.

Especially if you're up against a Terminator, because you have to keep it in your line of sight longer than its shield depletion time, which when it's not firing is for-freaking-ever.
