Actually a planet can never be blown up - blown apart yes, but not blown up.

But if you blow up the planet whilst entering the system, the full Earth Defence Force would still be around, able to intercept any larger chunks heading towards Terra. guns that are meant for Quan can easily stop asteroids and fragments if these appear first. Also, there's a hell of a lot of gravitational wells between Sedna and Earth, any piece hitting us would have to go through a quite unique trajectory, meanign there probably wouldn't be that many of them.

The bomb would fit I suppose, the Quan were no strangers to Precursor technology... It just seems a bit like overkill. Maybe the planet contained loads and loads of combustible gases that the fusion blasts happened to ignite?

Like I said, major defense station out there? Ship building factories? Resistance that absolutely couldn't be left behind? Trying to scare the humans into surrendering?

With the exeption of the Sa-matra, the Ur-quan do not have the ablilty to cause that kind of destruction.

Well. Seeing that we have nukes in this day and age.
Imagine a bomb 10 times more powerful than that. Now imagine dozens of them all going to one target.

Actually we don't know what we'd get, since we have never tried to blow up a planet yet.

Take a look at all the test nukes that went off - What happened? It blew things apart. It did not vaporize them.

Oh. haha. Sorry misunderstanding. I never meant to imply that Sedna would have been vaporised by the Urquan attack, I meant that it was destroyed. It could have been blown apart, it could have been 'relocated' or it could have been vaporised.

How would you relocate it? If you did it "just by firing nukes" then you might send it on the wrong trajectory. Earths defences could never stop that!

Assuming the Quan relocated it, they probably have some quite advanced mathematics and technologies capable of undertaking such a operation.
