Command Line Options
« on: March 29, 2004, 02:46:06 am »

Hi guys -- I feel like a idiot asking this, but for some reason this just is'nt working for me.

I'm trying to run Ur-Quan Masters 0.3 on Windows XP.  I left the game in the default instal directory --

"C:\Program Files\The Ur-Quan Masters\uqm.exe"

I'm not having ANY luck adding on the command line options.  I've tried to launch the game from the Run menu and add one outside the quotes, like this --

"C:\Program Files\The Ur-Quan Masters\uqm.exe"--opengl

But it refuses to start.  Same if I leave the option INSIDE the quotes.

How the heck do I get this to run with the options?  Angry

Outside the quotes, but with a space before the '--'.

Re: Command Line And Launcher
« Reply #2 on: March 29, 2004, 03:14:28 am »

Hey, that did it!  Thanks!  Grin

I'm actually NOT new to computers, you must understand, but it's been YEARS since I did anything with the command line options.....

Thanks for the quick response.  I have another question -- this time, about the launcher.

I downloaded the UQM Launcher+Libs, which works great for me.  I just wonder if there's some way to use the launcher AND to use the command line '--addon uqmremix' to play the game with new music.  Can the two be combined?

Some people have mentioned a uqm loader but I have no clue what they are talking about or where they got it from.  (I saw another one that uses Java, but I don't even have Java installed and Microsoft has made it very hard to find it these days.)

Thanks again.

What launcher are you talking about?

It's called the UQM Launcher+Libs.  There's a link for it int eh FAQ here in this forum. Smiley

If there's another launcher people are using, something where I can specificy the use of options such as the new remixed music, I'd love to know about it.  Grin

I'm not a Windows user myself, but I think people have had best experiences with MarkVera's loader.
See this thread.
It should be able to handle add-ons.

Thanks, that launcher was what I was looking for.  Grin

You guys should add that to the FAQ here.  I hope the final game has something like this.

In the final game, the setup menu should work, and all these things can be set up from there.
