Argh!!!! I know we're supposed to post these on the bug database but this is much more user friendly!!!!
UQM 0.3 seems to work on my pentium 4 2.66Ghz PC but the frame rate is extremely slow rendering the game unplayable. This doesn't seem to make sense. It ran fine on my old Pent II 266mhz. I installed this version from scratch (not over an older version). I've tried various things to get it to work and no luck..... I even downloaded version 0.2 to see if it ran better...
This is really frustrating.......please help me....
i added that to the command prompt (is that how to do it?) and yes it seems to have helped somewhat.... now instead of being slow and chunky all the time the frame rate is smooth except for 'freezing' every few seconds for about one second..... it's better but still difficult to play..... i'm running Windows XP professional if that helps
Hmm... you could try closing everything else what you have running (in the system tray etc). Maybe one of the other programs is interfering. Also, check if your video drivers, sound drivers and DirectX are not too old (try installing the latest version just in case). I haven't seen this exact problem before, so chances are it's not a bug in UQM itself. But if it is, it's hard to fix if we can't reproduce or explain it ourselves.

I had the same problem on a friend's pc. To fix it I typed msconfig on run, and removed all the unknown apps on startup. Then I d\led spybot search and destroy, deleted all the spyware and then it worked smoothly(Pentium 3).

It is as though your species' brain is too small to hold a simple thought such as, WE WILL KILL YOU FOR DISOBEYING! This is not a complex idea.
If you are runnung sc on windows xp... press ctrl alt canc... and then raise the priority of ur quan masters... et voila... no more frame rate problem...
