umm....
Am I missing something? - Because the X-wing and Broodhome owners were slave shielded and when they cam out, they thought that there avartar would kick everything that the two earlier ships would.

Terminator you dolt, what's this doing in Off Topic? The Avatar replaced the other two in the story because it was deemed superior to the older vehicles.
"An Avatar doesn't stand a chance against a X-form..."
Wrong.
"...with the Broodhome it can go either way."
More like 4:1 odds in favor of Avatar.

i have better luck using a chenjesu against the avatar, then i do using the x-form. the chenjesu, i can shoot past the zap sats, that is if i start far off. if im in too close well... if i can get turned around and face off... maybe. the x-form, lazers are far too short too leave me unscathed, and the missles get shot down before there a threat. but if you got skills terminator.... let me know. id like too see it done.

I dont think the ships had anything to do with the choosing of making the chenjesu and the mmrm-mhrm go. The creators came up with the idea of the chmmr and that only really makes sense with these two races.

Well yeah, of course. Everyone's done that at some point.
This one time I used an Umgah to beat the full compliment (14 ships, I think) of Chmmr. They were not on awesome difficulty, though... I got an ex stealth bomber pilot from the Air Force to play as them. I should also point out that he has practiced Super Melee to the point of it being a martial art to him and he is also a cyborg. Did I mention I was blind-folded, drunk, and didn't actually know we were playing Star Control 2? True story.

The one time I seriously played that game, I sent an Earthling out... it got the speed upgrade and proceeded to be basically invincible.
It was a great game. Too bad I only had access to it for a few hours. *frumple*
Oh yeah! on topic. Right. Umm, I figure that getting the Chenjesu and Mmrnmhrm out of the way wasn't so hard since they could have been placed under slave shields anyway. Once PR3 and FF figured out the Mmrnmhrm would go with the Chenjesu, they figured out the idea for the Chmmr.

Why did you switch to talking about Chmmr halfway through that post?
Also, Earthlings are good against the Ur-Quan. Run away, use nukes judiciously. One will almost certainly lose, but can do hefty damage, softening them up for a second or a different warship to clean things up (a Chenjesu makes a good followup to an Earthling because it can convert the kill before fighters arrive)

The other thing you have to watch out for is wraparound. Getting up a good head of steam isn't too useful if it aims you right for the dreadnaught. Also, it's important to remember which way to the planet -- once you break off your whip, you'll need to establish a new one ASAP.
