I can't dispute these facts, and yet I remember, way back when, I made it several years past the point where that triangle thing would go all black, and yet the cleansing never started. I'm not sure how I was able to do this, but there you go.
I do recall that I avoided Kzer-Za or Kor-Ah contact (and therefore don't have their spheres on my map) in ANY of the games I played as a kid; I don't know if that would cause this to occur, but it's the only thing I can think of.

1) I'm really glad this was posted. It helped me make the fanfic tighter.
2) We have had no star control II facts in a long time... I was hoping for one about the density of planetary dangers. (and now I've got it, yay)
