looking at the available models from star-control.com, I'm thinking that the Kzer-Za vessel could use a make-over, but they aren't that bad. You might want to work on them rather than waste time on reinventing the wheel.

P.s., try not to make it look like these, with the pointy edges.. eww. All edges should be smooth.

pretty good, I like the way the fighters are compared to the old pictures. Though, I don't like the backwash of the fighters.

hmm....

i know im messin with the SC universe, but im thinking of making the dreadnought, more fearsome....

where a few can pose such a dangerous threat, unlike the game makes it...

im going to make these things flying death machines, probably point defence guns, thick armor, and.... the fun part, a swarm of shofixti attacking one Wink hehehe

a swarm i mean quite a bit...

thing is i need one thats really detailed.... so thats why im buildin it....

Pick something from a japanese cartoon or a Square game. Err... second thought leave square out of this their characters aren't that manly to begin with, you could always use Tanaka or Katana.

i was gonna pick one of those... but um... hmm mabye i just will

Looks to me as if the fighters are decending into the engine  Wink

Actually the fighters look pretty good, especially without the candy backwash.

hah yeah, those are fighter bays, i may change it, but i think i can create an awsome battle... with 2 of them...

shofixtis tearing up the pods, trying to take down the fighters, trying to tear apart the ur-quan bridge....

hehehe man cant wait to get done with the models... and work on the actual movie....

(so far about 2 seconds of fighters, more than in that picture.... takes about an hour to render, havent added engine glow yet....)

hmm i should work on explosion techniques too...

hmm mabye i need to tweak that alittle....

I thought the fighters were relitivly simple in shape, but if you want all those little details, i can do that...

i may redo it with the old ur-quan style fighters though...

That's pretty much the model I converted from Lightwave to max in the cq movie. It needed some creative work for successfully converting it.
Same goes for the Kohr-ah.

I always thought that the fighter dock would be in the spine of the ship probably in the underbelly of the ship. Play the game again the fighters both enter and exit the Dreadnought at the spine. I could be mistaken though.
