This made me realise that if the core team would be able to add a movie player in the game, there could be fan-made in-game movies at some important events in the game, like in SC3. That would be great.

That's a brilliant idea! shame I gave up my 3D career so long ago alas, talented people should form a team, such as the Precursors for remixes, and get to work! hmm, 30% on the download, but I'm all too excited from previous posts and can't wait on it!
Anyways, you guys should take the initiative and really think this idea through.
P.S., wasn't there some 3D Star Control remake, Timewarp, or something? perhaps you could recruit some help from them.

The scouts look awsome.
Why do the stars move when they get close to the screen?

Ah well, from what I can recall in the Timewarp project, all the models for the ships have been made and are ready to be used - it's the animation, lighting, effects and all in all storylines which are missing. These are the hard parts.
Anyone a member of some 3D MAX or related forum? I'm sure that if they like these kinds of games they'd love UQM and might even consider contributing their skill in 3D for fame and glory

the camera shakes, but i didnt adjust it so the stars wouldnt blur as much.... so it kinda messed it up (if i had a planet or something nearby, you could see the camera does shake)
so when they fly by, the camera is shaking, just an effect to add alittle flava...

as you can see im not too bad at 3d stuff, its short and sweet but that wasnt even a full day worth of work.... including the making the scouts, finding out how to do propper camera shake, and rendering.....
I'll get back to that ur-quan vessel, i think ill be doing it in pieces kuz of its size....
once im done with the scouts, and its an actual video, ill donate what time i can to it....
i wanted to try to emulate some shofixti and ur-quan voices using a voice recorder, but i cant get it right.... mabye some other time...
