try making it wider. Shaped more like your first one. You could also try giving the window a gold tint again.

yes well, I always found modelling much easier than animation, lights and texturing
a suggestion though - the afterburner, or whatever you call the rear thurster (oh maybe that's how you call it) - don't stick to the original 2D image.. what I mean is, just like remixes are a bit different (of higher quality) the models should look better (realistic even) - and so, the afterburner shouldn't be just that geometrical shape. Also - it doesn't seem logical to me that such an advanced race such as the Kzer-Za would build a ship so (Eucleadian-) geometrically simple -- perhaps take examples from sci-fi movies!
just like you've changed the shape of the head of the vessel, I suggest the rest of it also be reshaped.. do we have an artist in the crowd? I guess it'd be easier to illustrate it on paper and then model it.
P.S., see that you aren't reinventing the wheel - check with the Timewarp project to make sure there's no basis you could work on

the "afterburner" i think what your calling it, is not a geometric shape.... its a glow created by a light... its actually like.... a fog of light, its hard to explain.... its not a geometric shape though
and i still have alot to do, plus i havent started any bumpmapping (my friend mr. bump map)
Where are the eh, things to its left and right? Fighter bays I presume.
those are the wings that the fighter bays will attach to... just havent built em yet.... trying to think of the best way to do it...

I think fighter bays would make more sense. 1) they do seem to lounch from there. 2) the ship already has an engine at the back. 3) other ships of the same mass and speed apparently dont need such massive warp engines.

Agreed, although, in melee it seems that the fighters come out of the engine.

its nice, i think....
unfortinually, for the final part of my movie, which i already have my mind made up about (and should be obvious for what races are fighting whom) i need a way more complicated explosion....
which is gonna be difficult...
