Kernel failed to load?

The Ur-Quan Masters had been working great, but whenever I try to load it up lately, I get a message in the DOS section that says "kernel failed to load". I'm quite sure I didn't change anything on my computer, and reinstilation doesn't work. Any suggestions?

You can get that message if the content can't be loaded or the graphics driver can't be initialised.
Maybe reinstalling DirectX could help.
