I was thinking of starting a 3-D ... Star Control 2 Melee: BF2 Mod.
Let me know if anyone else would be interested in participating. We would create the basic models like the 3DO version, and we could load them as spacecraft in a BF2 mod.
To see what a space mod looks like with the old BF1942 engine, check out Galactic Conquest.
It would be cool I think! You would need BF2 to allow all the vehicles and special vehicle weapon types... the meat of the mod programming would be the weapon systems.

I'm not sure what BF2 is, but I briefly started (and have recently renewed my interest in) a Mod for Vegastrike, an open-source space-sim. The mod is currently nothing more than a few models put into VS's mesh format, but I'm hoping to make a Sol-system demo over several months.
Do you mind if I steal your models?

Culture20, I'm really, really impressed. Can't wait for more from you. Never really played Vegastrike, but I will once you get more of this hammered out. lol
It looks absolutely fantastic.

Wow. You found the site of the guys who CREATED the 3D graphics for the 3DO's Star Control II intro, ending, and ship screens...
For having originally been created in the early 90s, the graphics aren't that bad.

Well, that PCA Graphics page looks kind of dead (last update: 1997), but there are some really interesting high resolution pics of SC2 stuff there. The heading says "from the intro of the 3DO version", but there are quite a few things there I don't recognise. I wonder if these guys have high-resolution extended versions of the intro and ending movies lying around. I also wonder if they have the copyright for them.

Not a bad still image of the Mark II. The ending video always goes so fast I could never really get a good look at the thing.

Hey this sounds interesting. I'd be willing to do some 3d modeling/texturing for either of these projects. I'm pretty skilled in Max 7. In fact, I've been working on a game-friendly version of the vindicator. Here's what I have so far:

That model has about 3200 triangles. Anybody interested?

Also, for the record, if you're planning on starting some kind of actual mod or serious hobby project, PLEASE post your e-mail address or some other contact information. Forums aren't a good way to get in touch with anybody.
But seriously, I am intersted. I've always wondered what 3D Star Control combat might look like.

CoeRay -
I'd be interested, my email is: drarem <at> hotmail <dot> com
I do a bit of each, here is my website, look under Gallery for my 3d work, and I think Files section has two utilities I created using c++. I also have blitz3d which is what I plan to use.
