Confused

According to the project status page the only features not in the game at present are intro/end movie clips and naming save games......is this correct???
Adding in the movie clips should be pretty darn easy shouldn't it?
If those are truly the only features not in the game why isn't this project listed as near final build.
What else needs done?
-confused- & excited to play the final build of this great project.

Yeah, that's why I got confused
I've been playing it some recently and it seemed perfect to me, though I didn't play that far into it to encounter any obscure bugs.
It's been so long since I played the original sc2 I've forgot most of what this game had to offer, it's going to be great playing again.
I've decided to put off playing through this gem again though until you guys add the ending, so I'm looking forward to that.
Thanks for the response, you guys have done a kick ass job. - - - - - - - Windows XP pro fully updated, amd 2ghz, 768mb ram, sb audigy, geforce 4 4600...runs fine

Yeah, those tall system requirements are really going to keep people away from playing UQM. That's what the long wait for the final release is all about, waiting until the processor technology catches up.

It's because this version features voiceovers for all the alien races in the game. That stuff takes a lot of space.

um, I am surprised that this wouldn't be playable on a lower end system. In general UQM uses up an average of 25% of my cpu power and that is while it is running in a window (more power needed for windowed mode on most games) at 640x480x32 (or 24) with the high quality bilinear filtering and trilinear scaled melee (and high quality audio)... also opengl mode
My computer is a p4 (geforce4 ti4600) but if UQM uses so little of my computers power I would expect that a p2 could at least play the game with it set to 320x200.
I just did a quick playtest and the only thing besides when it is loading a new area (transition from starbase to planets to starmap) the only area that is high strain on the cpu is the exploration screen (when exploring for minerals). That was up around 70% but even melees hung around at the average.

Yeah, the extra space is from the approx. 12 hours of recorded dialog for the alien races from the 3DO version.
As for sysreqs: My old Celeron 500 ran it fine. My old Pentium 120 choked. The "true minimum" is somewhere in between.
Don't forget, also, that you have to put up with Windows/your actual OS running in the background, and interactions with the windowing system and whatnot. The days of giving a game total control of the system are long over.
(Also missing is a setup menu that does anything.)

Star control 2(PC) Update.txt
REVISED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Memory: You will need at least 580,000 bytes of Low DOS memory available when you start the game.
Disk Space: Star Control II has expanded like a blowfish with water retention, and now requires 9,200,000 bytes of free space on your hard drive. This is due to the addition of almost an hour of digital music, plus over fifty digital sound effects.
9,200,000 bytes doesn't seem like alot now but back then when the average CPU had a 200MB drive(less is proable) it'll set you back.
Since I no longer have the manual I would like to know what the original System requirements were (ie Processor speed).
