Oh?

How does the Spathi break the Avatar's defense? How do you beat the Chenjesu considering the thing usually flies away from its enemy?

OK full rundown.

Ur-Quan.  Everyone knows what to do with this.
Kohr-Ah.  Same thing.

Chmmr.  This one is a pure PITA time wise (think 5-10 minutes), mainly due to the limited battery the Spathi has - usually in a regular melee game if Spathi vs. Chmmr comes up sometimes I just let the Chmmr win if I don't feel like taking the time..  The basic idea is to use full blasts with the punt gun.  Inevitably one of the zapsats go down then you can lace the missiles in while you run from the tractor.  (I've talked about this one in here before)

Chenjesu.  A lot easier than the Chmmr time wise but still a little annoying because it runs away.  Sometimes I line up the punt gun when I chase it.  Sometimes I bait it and turn and fire a missile.  Sometime I alternate screens with it (it's massive, it can't turn direction very easily), and then do a drive by with all my missiles.

The basic way it went when I tried it:
1) Kohr-Ah.  Flawless victory.
2) Chmmr.  Flawless victory.
3) Chenjesu.  I got caught by a couple of broken crystal shards.  Four crew down.
4) Ur-Quan.  Flawless victory.

Yeah, if it wasn't for the Chmmr, the Eluder would be ieal
for that mission. Maybe if we took out the Chmmr and put in
the Utwig....
I wonder how the Yehat would do. I'm not very good with my
shield timing, but I might try it.

after some practice with the androsynth, i got down to this:

and i got too disenchanted to try it again.  i'm sure someone else here can do it.

edit:
strategy:
chmmr:  keep a safe distance using the comet form until it gives up and turns around, then save your energy for bubbles and shoot.  a moderately long battle.
chenjesu:  comet form early and ram, if you can't get it on the first pass, it's hard to do it again.
ur-quan: run and bubble.  when the fighters get close, comet away a short distance and repeat.  when fighters stop, shoot bubbles at a safe distance.
kohr-ah:  the hardest of the bunch, shoot a few bubbles at first to get it to drain its energy, then ram to drain of its health.  you'll have to be close to perfect here.

Fighting a computer-controlled Kohr-Ah is quite easy:  Stay between its firing angles and keep lobbing bubbles at it.  A Marauder has a slightly higher top speed than a Guardian does, so occasionally you'll need to comet away and "start over", but otherwise it's a really easy fight to win.

We need an option to save replays at some point, after v1.0 Wink

granted, it's not as easy as that sounds, since the close-range ... secondary fire (i don't know the name =P) gets rid of all the bubbles and then even the blades get in the way for a nice bubble attack.

i suppose you'd have to stay in close enough a range that they drain all their energy with blades, but that's a bit tedious.

not to say i won't try it when i get the will again, though.

Well of course you drop one or two bubbles to trick them into a premature FRIED. Only when the battery is low do you let loose.

Up to 6 ships now on the original challenge of mine.  Just finished it with the Kohr-Ah (it's harder to do it with the 30pt heavies than you think).

IDEA!! *KACHING!*

came up to me while listening to the Kohr-Ah new battle remix, thinking if the Ur-quan should have their own.. plus I tried Aftermath the other day - might have had an effect as well.

want harder melees? can't control two vessels with one keyboard? no matter! why not fight 2+ enemy ships at the same time??

YES!

now let's find a worthy sacrafice to the gods (the Core team of course) and bid them to know how complicated would it be to alter the engine so you'd fight against more than one enemy ship at a time!

hmm?

or.... play timewarp

I have good fun with a 3 vs 3 battle with ships of my choosing (I just don't really much like some of the other ships added in)

This game simply wasn't designed for more than 1 on 1 duels. Otherwise you'd see all sorts of team boosting abilities and wide area-of-effect weapons.

Maybe it is not built for it, but it could be added feature to take on, lets say 4 ships at once. You would have only one ships of course. That way, it would be a added bonus in difficulty and just be a neat feature. I don't think it should work on the actual game, just the super - melee.

I considered this once. I think the combat engine shouldn't have much problems in handling it (though I haven't tried it), but selecting the ships would need more work. Maybe one day.
