Not sure about the original one, but here are several good ones.

You know these maps won't help you much unless you can print it, as SC2 is a dos game and being such runs incredibly slow in Windows 98 and later. In dos mode you cannot access jpgs unless you something like Printshop.

Or transfer them to your digital camera or PDA.  I have a feeling ITP plans on using this map with UQM though (since it is the best way to play: "I wonder what the Androsynth are up to... AH!  Fish people!").

Its a huge file and if you send it to paint (dont touch anything or the quality will degrade) and print it, it will come out full sized over many pages.

I tried that, it didn't work to well, I have a box, X coordinates from 0 to 280 and Y coordinates from 600 to 1000. Needless to say it's not very useful, I would think that http://www.classicgaming.com/starcontrol/sc2/alpha_constellations.shtml, is much more useful.

I run my original sc2 in dosbox, and I have no problems task switching to take a look at the map....

Another idea, if you have a multiple monitor setup, I suppose you could have UQM going on one, and the starmap on the other.

Why the hell would you need a star map anyways? it was mostly good for the game copyright protection at the start..

well, not even that - I remembered them by heart, so I didn't need the map, at the time Wink

awww, 92-3... golden years.

because the Starmap is usefull for 3-4 things:
1) Letting you know where your allies will likely be found (Chenjesu)
2) Letting you know where your enemies will likely be found (Ilwrath)
3) Giving you the constellations, drawn-in (Zex's Puzzle)
4) Nostalgia  Wink

And when during a quest you are sent to a star with a specific name instead of a set of coordinates

That is more what a star search is for. I spent abvout 30 minutes trying to figure out where the chmmr are located after being given the name.

I hope V 1.0+ has some sort of constellation searching option. All the info is already there, it just takes forever to look through it.

I would rather the 1.0 version out sooner without that option. Now, I know I can use the one at PNF. I just minimize the game and enter in the star. I think making a star search into the game would require a lot of work. (Maybe I am wrong)

You're wrong.

but in any case, I don't see why you're so eager for v1.0, what's wrong for you in the current version? nothing visually or in quality would change till v1.0. to the player it'd seem just the same!
