"Infinite" fleets
« on: July 08, 2004, 04:19:03 am »

So, are those fleets guarding homeworlds and such truly unlimited? After fighting Admiral ZEX's fleet for something like two hours and destroying what felt like a hundred VUX Intruders (before getting my butt blasted), I'm just wondering if any one here as actually ever beaten one of those fleets.

(And I know about the more diplomatic solution to the ZEX situation, I'm just trying something different.)

Well, around the home worlds yes, unlimited ships.

As for Zex, well I have not heard of anyone beating him either....

Commander Hayes himself tells you that you can't win against a fortified world. It's just best to run away, unless you have a good reason for killing a few dozen of them.  Grin

Though it would be cool if you could subjugate a race by going to their homeworld, destroy ~200-300 ships, and make them your b!@ches.  It should be an option if when asked what to name your new alliance, you name it the Empire of Vassago (or whatever).

I mean if one Kohr-Ah ship can wipe out the entire Zoq-Fot-Piq race why can't an ancient Prequerser vessel?

Wonder how effective an Ilwrath would be against the Sa-Matra.

Ofcause the BEST ship to destroy the SA-Matra's shield generators, has to be the Pkunk. Fast enough to run rings arround those green and firey things, and with rapid fire on  port and starport, you can just cruise past those generaters, shoot, and go to refuel. Of cause, the occational "Halleluja" also helps.  Cheesy

That is very true - but does it not get bored after a while when you can kill two or three sa-matras with one ship? I like the more "fun" matches..... (just my mind though...)

I think that another very interesting ship would be the slylandro probe, just keep going at a parallel course to the top 4 generators, and use wrap-around. =p

BTW, i think it would be pretty damn nifty if when you warped from a homeworld, you still get the ship's destroy value.
Farming Thraddash would be great fun.

BTW, I have spent about 4 hours and have killed all of the ships surrounding the Su-Matra =p

Yes -  you do - If you just run through the ring of ships, when you get the the sa-matra, where 6 ships normally show, their will be unlimited.

Yeah, there is a collision bug with tracking ships, if your being attacked by like 50 of any ship, and couldnt be bothered escaping (this is in truespace) Eliminate one group, and dont thrust after you reenter truespace.
The other ships hover over yours, but dont attack, simply thrust away, and they will chase you.

Thats how i got through the ring originally, and approached the Sa-Matra, then i grabbed a good DVD, put it on the TV and played Super-Melee....Wow, im poetic!

Which would be...? As far as I can remember, the Thraddash say that going after the ships in their homeworld doesn't count... Smiley
