Getting RUs off my allies?
« on: July 10, 2004, 02:07:51 pm »

I made an alliance with the Spathi, and one of the options that I get when conversing with them is to ask them for RUs. They reply that I'm free to use their waste disposal unit which contains plenty of minerals, gases and what not. Question is, I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to actually get to a screen that would let me transfer those minerals to my cargo bays. Any ideas? Please help.

Uhm... dude... I dont know how to tell you this but...
Erm you see, what the Spathi actually mean is... their WASTE DISPOSAL units.
In short my friend, you've been suckered by a buch of weasely one eyed clam-things from outer space.
You see by waste disposal units they mean their.... lavatories (or Spathi equivalent).
So what they're basically offering you is.... well
Spati SH** I mean.... excrement!!!
Think about it...
interesting minerals and -gasses- indeed, thanks but no thanks.

Don't worry about it NKVD. I also thought the same for a little bit and even went so far as to check the cargo bar on the precursor ship before I realized the true. Ah - the cost of greed - aka free RU's.

Bah, I was beginning to think as much, but those Spathi looked so friendly, blinking at me with that one eye of theirs with such an honest expression on their... face? I just couldn't believe they weren't being genuine.

Actually they do give you the contents of their waste disposal units. But think of how long they would have had to have been in space for the 30 clams on board to excrete one kiloton of waste? You do realize that is one MILLION kilograms.

At an unbelieveable pace of five BM's a day of one dry-weight kilogram each from each of the clams, and absolutely no recycling, it would take over 18 years to produce 1 RU.

Maybe you are talking to the ship that goes around and collects waste from ALL the spathi ships? Wink

I can imagine that the ship that carts it all around would be pretty safe, as no one wants to attack it for fear of igniting the 'gases' in the cargo hold, Ala Shofixti sun =p

LOL!  Grin

They probably sell the most volatile chemicals to the Thraddash for their torch engines. Or rather not sell, they'd give them in exchange for not being bullied  Wink
