who are we?
« on: July 17, 2004, 01:59:18 pm »

I remembered I wrote this a while ago so I decided to post this to get a reaction. I wont post for a while since I am tight on time.

We are a conspiracy. We have been running rampant while wildly pointing around, for years. We are everywhere and fragmented.  Our objects are cruel, our methods are inhumane, we never use references, and we always cast in the wrong type. If you join our conspiracy we will make you new and fail to even try and catch you before our corporate made managers are told to delete you. We do not know how to inherit. We never assert the obvious truth even if it would save us huge amounts of time. We keep our comments to ourselves and use nonsensical names. Our logic is always flawed and destructive. We define almost everything we can in the wrong places at the wrong time. Our children appear to be adopted and out parents are always private. We are heavy weights when it comes to Construction. Optimization is not for us.

A tough riddle, but I think I've found you out.
Wildly pointing for years, as with a "GOTO"?
Objects?  I doubt you're Object Oriented.  Probably Object Based.
Never Referencing.
No Inheritance.
That last bit was too much, for with it, I have gleaned that you are one of those Miserable LAKE MEN from DALE!
Erm, or maybe Visual Basic 5/6 Smiley
If you have no TRUE, I'd say VB5

I serious response, I would guess a corporation or the Board of Ed. or more recently (in a snobby voice) The Department Of Education. We are only numbers to these people any way.

It sounds like a Windows Handle. For those of you blessed enough
never to have looked at Win32 code, a handle is like a pointer.
Basically, it's a pointer to a structure that exists primarily to
hold another pointer.
This was done to make memory management easier in easrly
versions of Windows, but the concept stuck.
